great vid - reminds me a lot of the animated intro to the Sony PS3 game Motorstorm, excellent transitions, afternoon/morning light and just enough action to keep the interest up - it graduated nicely in difficulty! And it gelled with the music nicely too - well done!

constructive criticism (as i want you to win)
#the whole thing lacks a narrative and theme for the viewer to be drawn in by. (location changes cant use the same transition as a view change)
#there is too much slow more or there isn't enough fast action to counter act it
#the song has 3 distinct parts but the video doesn't match with these but i cant work out how you could change this easily
I say this because the opening shot is of you at the top of the hill, you are not shown at the end and it doesn't appear to flow. we need to see that you didnt stack it and live to go on to another hill.
#the third shot change is obviously not the same place as the last cut left you off at even if i didnt recognize the hill
this works in a way though as you come into shot at the right place but it doesnt fit well, if it was cut to change 2/3 seconds later with a double change (white flash to black to white to the new clip or similar)
#at 18 seconds you move off, that isn't in order with what we just saw
#The song could be over laid with a increasing tempo and volume drum and bass track that could be matched with the video as ti is as it speeds up more than the song does
#more than one person should be in many more shots as it makes the scene appear far more interesting and fun; what the judges are looking for. (i guess)
#the footage doesnt get any better in slow mo as your not using $10 000 cameras, some more effects to mask this is the only help i can think of unless the daily motion down size is to blame.
#30 seconds: really good but more cultural features could be included/you were next to the war memorial, a cliqued old and new connection could be made
#colours have been played with but some special effects could have been done with the 33sec 180 or what ever it was to make the already prominent wheels stand out like them leaving a green slash/glow sort of mark where they had been.
#there are 2 endings
after the first 30 seconds its really good but the first 30 are so important as any faults in the beginning makes a viewer more prone to criticize what they watch later in the clip.
more social stuff needs to be in it like you jumping over your friends in the concrete place you were in, there is no connection between the riders as it is. smile... look like you are enjoying it a bit more especially at the end.
wow, thats a lot more than i intended to write. dont take any of it personally as im not making stuff that good and its pretty impressive but its audience could be left behind by its action. i just wanted to give you some feed back

one more, the song starts very quickly/no fade in. makes you feel like you've started watching late.

Heaps of constructive criticism from kitecrazzzy there....Anyway you got my vote. Had a nice look & feel about it. A few more moves would have been nice, but hey I reckon it was a heap better then a lot of the other ones ranked higher then yours.

Cheers for the votes guys, tell your friends!
Kitecrazzy thanks for the crit. I was trying to stay away from cheesy effects at let the shots speak for themselves. You made some good points though. As far as more guys in shot, I was going for a more solitary feel, I guess its a matter of taste.
Mrwandaful, freebords are available from SOS Surf in WA or online at www.freebord.com.
Carbine, go buy one, that stack was care of Dane and Joe in NZ, and they were on longboards. The bloke who posted the vid (from the US somewhere)was wroooong.

i got one and can do it. cant really get spins or any of that shiz but can slide it. Gone down streets like stock rd and the one that runs along santa maria piece of piss. But dont want to wear a helment but dont want to crack my head in two. dilemma!
plus i find its kind of boring. maybe coz im not doing funky stuff. But i prefer the carve board and scriber, u can really attack it and pump it hard where as the freebord its kind of like no power envolved. I wanna let it rain asphalt.

Great job!
Your camera and panning angles are sweet, the editing has given the movie a nice laid back solo style feel of freeboard riding.
I wouldn’t call it criticism because it’s a mater of style as you said but only thing I might have played with and its depending on what other video you had cut from, is a couple of silhouette shots - they look really nice but maybe a little under utilized or misplaced. duno.. They stand out for me that’s all as really good footage that could have made a bigger impact to the overall video.
Anyhow i voted for you!
