head to the harbour and turn right. We have kited just south of the harbour near the lifesaving club. We have heard if you travel further south along the road (unsealed when we went last year) you can kite near the river mouth and the water is more protected with smoother conditions.

Also kited on a beach very close to the centre of Mackay. I think it is called Bukasia beach, out the front of the caravan park. The tide has to be closer to high though, because the tide goes out for what seems like a kilometre. A nice spot if the tides right, unless you don't mind hiking out to the water

We always stop off for a few days when we travel north in the winter and on the way back, and Mackay has always put on great wind for us. Enjoy
