My injury was the result of a simple spin and landing. As I landed I heard my ankle crack twice quite loudly. I don't know what happened, because I thought I landed cleanly. It was the crushing part I was told is the worst. Just a freak accident I believe.
The surgeon told me I should even think about what else I want to do for career, just in case it doesn't come right. I love my job even more than kiting so that was a pretty difficult thing to be told. I'm on a mission to prove him wrong.
My work place provides all its employees with loss of license/loss of income insurance as part of our contract. Even if it is a sporting injury outside of work. Not that I thought I'd need it. Haven't done any research yet, but going to look into it for my wife. I highly recommend it if you can get it. I'll keep you posted.
