Drove around the central coast on my trip to sydney a bit last sunday and thought there might be heaps of good spots there. Just didn't see anyone - no wind. Where do Kitesurfers go there ?

I'd be curious as I might end up in sydney for work eventually and it could be better to live up there ... thanks anyone telling me a bit about that. (I saw the traffic there again and thought life in perth is really good )

G'day Mate,

There are heaps of spot indeed in the central coast area. I myself kite Umina beach, brillant in southerly, can get gusty in if the wind is slightly W. Whenever the box works (very very long wave)in synergy with the wind, you'll hit heaven.

Terrigal or the Entrance are awesome spots in any E, NE, SE. Nice waves too.
Frontal stuff, nasty gusty SW are takled in the Entrance lakes. I have never kited there though but I know the spot is called "pic nic".
Shallow flat water there.

Hope that helps.

Thanks mate, it helps. Just would have to mirror my brain
halves as E is W and W is offshore that side of the country.

More comments still welcome!

I go upto Jimmy's Beach at Hawks Nest (about 3 hours drive in my clapped out car!), it's pretty flat and is good in most wind directions. There's loads of space and throughout winter it's better wind than in the city (Kurnell, Dolls Point etc) so well worth the drive. Great place to stay is at Jimmy's Caravan Park right next to the beach.

Otherwise, you could drive a bit further north to Wallis Lake where most wind directions are good, or before that is Smith's Lake which has lake and surf but can get a bit gusty in a westerly.

Winter kiteboarding in Sydney means a great excuse to get away at weekends!
