Naish bar suicide leash.

Hi all,
For Naish riders / Bar.
Can any one tell me can I attach my suicide leash to the steel lop on my chicken loop which the 5 th line goes through.
Or where to attach the suicide leash?
I usually attach the suicide leash to the chicken loop rope but the new Naish 2010 bar, safety release seats neatly into the bar when un-hooked, it is hard to explain

What you can do is attach your leash to the 5th line or other saftey and then to your chicken loop itself. This way you ride suicide for unhooking but if you get into trouble you are still connected to your saftey, it only works on naish because there saftey when pulled your chicken loop is still connected.

hahah, whered you hear that from

yea, put your leash around both chicken loop and 5th line, because when you unhook it just pulls the chicken loop, therefore, you are riding suicide, but becasue the naish chicken loop detaches on one side, it will pull the 5th line off when you pull the safety giving a full depower safety. try it next time you are out.

For suicide I attach my leash to the black bead on the sheeting rope. When you drop the bar it pulls the sheeting rope through the cleat so you get a fair amount of depower that is enough to stop the kite crashing really hard.

Also allows the kite to sit depowered at the edge of the window and you just uncleat it pull the shift line and away you go.

The benefit of this method is you do not have to hook into the chicken loop which can be a pain in the arse. I then swap it over to the 5th line safety for launching and landing.

Having said all of that I may try Ewans suggestion in hectic conditions.

Andy,
do NOT attach your leash to the silver 5th locater ring, this is not designed to take the load of a kite.
The attachment method Ewan suggests is also not recommended as the ring in the end of the chicken loop is not designed to pass through a leash clip when under load.
Naish advise that your leash is connected either to the flagging line, or to the depower line (between the black balls on 08/09 kites and into the new ring on 2010).

Pretty sure people have been doing that for ages.

Attaching the leash as "Naish" advises is a stupid idea for 2 reasons.
1. you have to reset your power everytime you miss the bar on a trick (so like about twice a run for me)
2. It's going to wear out your sheeting rope really quick.

If you think you need to attach it between the black balls to make the kite depower even more, you need a reality check.

"Suicide" leashes are hardly Suicide anymore... When the term was invented people rode pulley bars with the leash attached to the fixed loop on the bar. You let go and get zero depower, you got dragged aroung until such time as the kite decided to crash or you hit something solid.

Just attaching the leash to the chicken loop on those crazy 10000% depower kites is going to give you more than enough depower, and also way less hassle in the long run.
Not to mention half the time you probably hit the water before the kite gets time to depower anyway... so it will be the speed you are riding at that will hurt you, not that your kite didnt depower in time.

have a look at the 2010 North safety leash connection system. two options in one connection.

i wonder where kevin langeree connects his to? ill have a check up with Ewan on his safety leash set up in png next week

AndyG i would place it on your trim lines above chicken loop when u ride unhooked and on 5th line when hooked in.
