Not so funnily enough, I was looking at a 17m DRAFT myself , but was told - quote " unless you are racing, they're ****e "his words, not mine. Efilnikufesin, what do you intend to use the
DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT !!
I can't give my own opinion, as I don't own one, nor have I demo'd one. Im thinking maybe the person who told me this was also using a sales gimmick, to try and sell me something else in his stock.
if you do buy it, and your using it for beginner / intermediate freestyle / free ride, please let me know how you go.
I just bought a 2014 RIDE for $700 used (IMMAC) and was thinking of the 17m DRAFT as a light wind.
PLEASE NOTE **** Im not saying a bad word about the DRAFT, nor dissn'n Naish , I AM NOT SAYING THE DRAFT IS A BAD KITE, just passing on what a shop recently told me, and I dint know what to think of it. please let me know how you go with it.

Hey Ragzilla,
Intersting comment from your dealer!
The Draft is a hangtime machine, it jumps and hangs with ease like no other. You might call it old school in this manner. But if your not unhooking and really love your boost, then definitely consider the DRAFT. As a by-product, the same characteristics that make an awesome boost kite, make a great race kite also, so yes the DRAFT smokes upwind, and generates tonnes of lift as your speed increases. With this lift generating characteristicm you also get an awesome light wind kite for those that can work their board speed, faster board + faster kite = more power.

Ragzilla ! I am pretty much a beginner , I have a couple of switchy's that I currently learn with , I am interested in the draft 14 because of its light wind / upwind ability , and because it will complete my quiver and give me a kite to grow into . Having said that I feel the draft might be beyond my current ability as I am told that it is a fast moving kite for its size , can be hard to relaunch , and doesn't like to sit at 12 o clock , which can make water starts difficult for a novice like my self . BUT the benefits in my opinion outweigh these cons , cause I wanna go FAST-----------------------!

Thanks for that JB
What your saying makes sense, and I don't do much un-hooking, none in fact.
The shop mentioned above was suggesting a FLY, but weighing in at 120kg (too many potato cakes), I struggle to believe that a 15M will really get me going on those light wind days. ouldnt have made my mind up without your knowledge JB, so I appreciate that.
I too, want to go FAST and BIG, sounds like the DRAFT is perfect.
I'm actually quite surprised / disappointed that NAISH doesn't do there full range in larger sizes, as I too would like to have a full quiver. beggers cant be choosers, I guess.

You will probably find the Fly has as much static bottom end as the 17m Draft, but the draft will produce more as it gets going. The 5-Line/Shift bar is not designed for the Draft, you would need to do some mods to make it work perfectly. I'd suggest getting the UCS bar with the Draft to keep it simple. And if you're 120kg, consider going for 27m lines.

There is a film on you tube of a guy using a 2009 cabrinha bar and lines with a 14 m draft .

I calculated under $1800 complete and delivered for a 2014-2015. That's being very generous too with the exchange rate at the moment. But by all means support your local dealers as I'm. Sure they are there for you. Bullies or not!

Firstly I would like too say Please disregard any of my previous comments. As time n time again I have been sucked in too promoadvertising. This topic I presume, like 99% of these subjects are nothing more than another promo n goodbye seabreeze. BTW a 14 rpm will smoke a 15 fly mate..You need too do yourself a favour and some research.

The draft seems to be released mid year , so the latest kite is the 2014/15 . Checked the cost on naish website approx 2300 complete including delivery .

I tried a 12m Draft last night and didn't have too many good things to say apart from that it does boost big.
-Bar pressure is really heavy
-The kite turns well with a lot of input but the bar pressure is a shocker
-Boost and float is good
-Felt like plenty of depower and canopy was tight
I really didn't like the bar. With a different bar the experience would have been better.
-The bar is too thin, it is like holding a thin steel rod
-The stopper is about a meter away from you so when you go to spin the bar, the kite drops out of the sky and you struggle to reach it again.
-No plastic over the ropes so it chafes the webs of your fingers.
I then jumped on my 11m ozone edge. Chalk and cheese
-It was more powerful, faster, turns twice as fast ect. It really felt like flying my 9m after coming off the 13m edge
-Boosted higher and floated longer
-light bar pressure and comfy grip with no chafing rope
Overall, the 12m draft felt like a big truck of a kite but I guess it is a 12m.
I reckon a little 8m draft would be a weapon in 35+knts but the 7m edge would probably eat it up too.
Sorry Naish, I wanted to like this kite but the edge is much better at what the draft is targeting.
