It's a kite that would suit someone skilled who was interested in the history of kiting - just as a reminder of what it used to be like.
I haven't owned an R3 but I had a Wipika Classic which converted from 2 lines to 4 lines. The kite had a lot of power for it's size and was basically a bucket which even when converted to 4 lines had very minimal depower. The R3 may have been considered a beginners kite back in 2000 but it doesn't compare to modern kites in terms of handling and control. When I first flew a 2006 16m Cabrinha Crossbow, I was amazed at how depowerable it was compared to the 4m Wipika Classic. Compared to the 4m Wipika, the 16m Crossbow was a puppy.
If you are learning, you will progress a lot better with a more modern kite.

My advice is - look at the video to answer your question, and then accept that you haven't bought a good kite for learning and go get another, better kite. The fact that you bought the R3 is an indicator that you haven't researched kitesurfing anywhere near enough.
This 2002 video is obsolete - like the R3, so spend time reading and talking to kiters to learn why you should use a modern kite.
Lessons are the best and safest way to get into kitesurfing.
