Seeing as the Melb icebergs have drifted away for a few months, its almost time to break out the boardies

Trouble is - as a seat harness only rider, I am never quite as comfy over the boardies as I am over a wetty.

Now before Browneeeeeee harps on about the Nitrous shorts - I already have a great seat harness, just want some more padding. I had a brief look on the rip curl site but nothing there...

Someone else out there must have run into this & got a solution?

Yeah a waist harness, you don't look like a fag and it doesn't give ya wedgies. (sorry for being so negative and blunt)

I'm with you Mr Plow. I've been on the lookout for wetsuit shorts for a while, and not had any joy.

Anyone in Perth have any idea where to get some from?

Hey Mr Plow,

A long time ago when I used to water ski regularly, we used wet suit shorts. They were kinda like a springsuit bottom half. They were used by barefoot skiiers and the likes to prevent death thru hi speed enema (ruptured bowel).

I don't know if you can still get em, but start by looking at water ski retailers and also speak to wetsuit manufacturers, they used to do custome suits and pants. They may look funny, but, if they are comfy for you, WTF!

Good luck!

'Rubber Jungle' on the Gold Coast, Qld, specialise in exactly what your after. They make custom wetsuits and anything else you want custom made, shorts, wetty tops, impact vests, stubby holders etc. Got a full length custom made & fit wettie for winter for $250. So they can be just as expensive as a brand name but if your like me you can never find a brand name wettie that properly fits your body shape, these guys will make it right and you also get to choose colours, logo's etc. So for any custom made thing in wettie material these are the guys to go see.

Thanks for all the responses guys...a quick search on google showed up some results too - doh - dont know why I didnt try it in the 1st place.

That high speed enema sounds like something to avoid - although I'm sure that the colonic irrigation afficiando's amongst us may argue the point...sure would come out squeaky clean & with a showbag for the rest of your days !

In Perth, Vidlers in Cottesloe and that big surf shop on Scrab Beach Rd, opp the BP in Scarbs has them. Most larger surf shops seem to carry them.

Just so happens that I have a pair of wavelength barefoot shorts that Kitehard speaks of.
They are quite thick, I used them under my seat harness for what you speak of. They are fantastic. I now kite with a waist harness.

I will part with them because they are simply cluttering up space in the kit box. E-mail me if interested. Size L.

They are basically brand new

lets just say it's a very euro look!
if the boardies aren't over the top of the nureyevs.
and if you are wearing just the wetsuit shorts it's a good chance that you've just had a back, crack and sack waxing.

Terrah - thanks for the advice. Call me "bubble-boy" but I have an aversion to wearing other peoples undergarments generally...given the general kind of activity that goes on in a wetty it would be a one way ticket to tinea of the worst possible kind

I remember way back when I was a surf grommet you couldnt even sell your wetty second-hand for "health reasons".

With regards to how I look in my wetty shorts in summer - if you knew me it would become quickly obvious that I dont give a lot of credo to dressing for others pleasure...if they dont like the look, they can look away - so long as I am comfy and not nursing crotch rash that would keep me off the water.
