Have tried to extract a price from kiteforum, but no luck.

Hey sburlo,

What are the prevailing winds in Darwin in the dry season.

Until five years ago I lived up there and ended up moving back to QLD. I never kited up there (only surfed in the cyclone swells) so I never took much notice of the wind strength and direction. I wish I new about kitting when I lived up there..I'd probably would have stayed.

I'm planning a holiday up there during the June/July period and I am tryng to workout what kites to bring with me.

Also where do you fellas usually kite..casurania beach, rapid creek/nightcliff area, lee point... etc...

Any info would be greatly appriciated.

Many Tars

crakas..

GDay,

Yeah I'm very happy that kitesurfing has developed. It is one of the reasons I don't mind living here, although the wind is often absent. I use to boogie board/surf in Adelaide and this in a way makes up for that.

Generally the guys kite at Casuarina beach just outside the surflifesaving club when the winds are NW.

When it is blowing SE, Lee Pt is the go but closer to Buffalo Creek side rather than the Pt itself.

A few months ago, the wins were SE in the morning and NW in the arvo.

I can't remember exactly how it is in june/july but i suspect NW.

I think some of the more experienced riders also launch at Nightcliff.

I'm about 75kg and have been only using a 14m C kite 04 and riding my old board a Square 2.

When it is decent the winds are about 12-20knts, We did have a spell a few months back where it did gust to about 28knts.

I reckon you would be best be prepared for light wind conditions.

That is why i am considering the Chameleon 13m.

Crakas, feel free to PM closer to the time u r up so i can fill u in with latest conditions better.

KiteGirl,

I will allow all kiters who kite at Brightlon Le Sands to try the kites and form their own opinion. Hopefully some will post here.

I am not allowed to post a review as it may be seen as promotion.

Will know more about the kites performance in one week.

Thanks
