Question? Worried about the nuts pressure finally cutting the lines or weakening them? That would be my only worry but certainly worth the risk.

Got mine from KitePower. There is a new HD version just out in the past week or so.

Have just ordered my new HD go pro from the states AU$370 delivered for the helmet kit

There were some pretty gnarly ones at Long Reef yesterday. Had a quick shot at it during lunchtime. Although you can't see them on the GoPro due to the super wide angle lens, some of the big ones were close to 3X or more overhead. Now just gotta figure out a way to film the waves properly now -- maybe next time will shoot concurrent from the kite with the CamRig!

Hey Galah, you'll have to wear dark glasses, hat and trench coat while kiting with the GoPro so as to remain the "Man of Mystery".

i have used the gopro on a close up kite rig and found the same problem , to much movement . made one of the nerk super back pac mounts" gold gold gold" never going back . kite rig is the question ???? nerk is the answer perfect video + perfect stills = one happy chappy

Nice shots, been doing the same with mine. I've bought a bicycle seat mount and attached that to the trimstrap. Great shots, lots of nice distortion. Will post some when i get home. Any posibilities for video or like mine way too much swing. Someone may someday figure it out but i think there is too much weight.

I prefered the kite mount fpor the 'surfing' shots... you can see what is going on. I guess a shot would have to be really well timed to capture the right moment on the trim strap set up. The 'freestyle' shots turned out a bit better. Some neat stuff but didn't spot anything awesome... heaps better than anything I could produce.

Sorry, I've tried straightening video from line mounted cameras. All motion detection software tries to match small (say 20x20 pixels) rectangles from one frame to the next, but because of the large distortion caused by the camera movement during the recording of each frame, it can't do it. (If the distortion stayed the same, we'd be ok)

One thought I had was that the spinning is caused by the offset weight of the camera, so it might be worth mounting a similar weight to the camera on the other side of the rig. It obviously adds more weight, so more up and down movement (which isn't much problem), but maybe no swinging.

I'd try it, but the seal on my gopro failed finally and it's no more! (Reason to buy a HD one?). I did try a bicycle seat mount on the end of the bar - it's a bit too close, but interesting for short periods. Here's a couple of frames...
