This just in:

Lou Wainman just set new hangtime record .On tuesday at kite beach they had a feaky 25 knot super easterly breeze which makes it very cross off at kite beach. Everyone was amped cos this has been the worst ever hawaiin off season.Just for something different The guys decided to get the stop watch out and see who could hang the longest. Most guys were getting between 5 and 7 second hangs. Lou was flying an 8.9 free air (3 year old design) set up on a custom pulley bar with a chicken loop built in to handle the extreme power he was holding down.

Lou went , unlike him, for a big kite whip boost just off the rocks. Eyewitneses report that he boosted , out of pure luck or otherwise, into a freaky bit of rotor turbulence / mini tornado that just shot him skywards like nothing any one has ever seen.

Apparently he was higher than most people's kites. After 6 wiggles of the kite he finally came down just near the downwind groynes near the sewage farm - cheekily nailing a quick handle pass just before impact. Unfortunately he miscalculated and clipped the edge of the groyne , relooped his kite and got dragged into the bushes and through some of the locals who were having a barbeque on the beach.

Lou reckoned the hang of the fixed set up meant he knew he was in for a massive float once he realised how high he had gone.He said the scariest thing was convincing the locals not to nail him hard for knocking over the barbie and esky.

WELL I DUNNO IF THIS IS A PUNNY ONE OR NOT,
BUT I WOULDNT DOUBT IT WITH LOU.
TRULY A LEADER OF THIS SPORT.
19 SECONDS THO IS A BIG JUMP FROM 6 OR WHATEVER THE CURRENT ONE IS.

I was up for 5 hours in my ram-air kite a few years ago!

Oh yeah that was my paraglider ;-)
