Might change the way bars are designed in the future if his system was adopted, no need for a QR on the bar could mean a cheaper lighter bar maybe, do away with the chicken loop and donkey dick

Another wonderful product designed for the amazing buying prowess of the recreational kook, how I salute you kiteboarding!

p.s. Can you even do unhooked tricks with this hook? and what happens if you have it set up so you could do un-hooked tricks... one release and you've lost what I'm guessing is an expensive metal hook part to replace. The whole thing looks pointless and possibly dangerous.

Unhooking will be banned soon as it is unsafe!

Looks like the idea is that when you pull the pin the little "donkey clip" (?) is meant to pop down and lock the expensive metal hook part onto your chicken loop.

I think I see a point to it, take the safety off the bar and put it on the harness, but I don't really get the point.

Problems - getting at the handle with your right hand. In gloves. Getting smacked by the metal bit on your CL flailing around.

I'll settle for a regular spreader bar that doesn't break, thanks . . . is that too much to ask? Oh it is? Well please continue the work on your $400 spreader bar and $600 bars then!

Also why I thought it was dangerous. Imagine releasing and that metal bit pinging into your face on the way through, probably leave a nice chip out of your teeth.

I am generally happy with the currrent system, and I (like all of you) dont know enough about this system to judge it, but the appeal of a lighter bar and no donkey dick seems nice. Additionally, I like to see people out there trying to invent/impove new things rather than just dissing anybody who tries something different. If it doesnt work then the product wont sell and natural selection will sort it out. But evolutation is always better than stagnation, and for evolution to occur mutation is required (the bad mutations will die and the good will flourish).

In the 70's/80's Bruno Legaignoux and Dominique Legaignoux were the two village idiots who tried to get a kite to tow them over the water. 35 years later thanks to them you have your current sport. Of coarse I shouldnt forgot to mention those morons in the mid 2000's who put bridles on their kites adn most recently that moron in hawaii building a strutless kite. If you dont like it then dont buy it, but if it isnt/ wasnt for pioneers like this trying to think outside the norm you would all still be windsurfing or worse sailing.

The notion of a lighter bar and a new safety system isnt that bad. In a few more prototypes, perhaps innovators like this might even be able to do away with waveslaves' death leashes rather than the likes of most of you on this forum who have just argued about whether you should use one or not for 10 years with nothing been achieved.

^^^ THIS. (Which in my opinion is worse as it's dead weight.)

Nice rant though.

Actually could be really useful for racing. Make it easy to remove all the lost space of the chicken loop, and leave a protect, but still available safety.

What does a QR system weigh - a few hundred grams? Gimme a break, if you're so limp-wristed you can't handle the extra weight of a can of beer either hooked to your harness or in your hands when unhooking, you need to take up a less demanding sport like tiddlewinks.

it could suit peeps who dont intend to unhook
but why not go a bit further, get rid of the chicken loop and have a direct attachment to the harness, with a QR at the harness, refer to the west coat USA system (aka ian alldredge)

Why not have redundancy in your safeties? ie a spare safety. if your chicken loop safety doesn't work then pull this safety.

Also what if your a bloke or dudette that has short arms....? you can cut the chicken loop off use a small D ring and get the bar closer to you. Then you can use the full throw of the bar!... that's got to be good.
