Hi all,
here are our new, very comfy footpads, see undergroundkiteboards.com/detail_news.php?id=24 for more details and pretty pictures
STEP INTO NEW UNDERGROUND FOOTSTRAPS

Underground Kiteboards are stoked to release their completely re-designed footstrap and footpad system, which we believe are a massive step forward. The totally integrated footpad and strap is the result of a complete re-think of the traditional foot to board connection. Director Adrian Roper: “We studied all the footstrap solutions on the market, looked at their shortcomings, then started from scratch to produce a fresh system designed for today’s riders”. The process took 8 months and the resulting product offers versatility, increased comfort, safety and support, superior impact absorption, ‘hoof-proof’ strength and above all good looks.

Underground’s unique thermoformed footpad is a pleasure to stand on and the shark skin surface texture provides superior grip with a raised toe bar and ergonomic heel arch.

The shape of the footstrap has been refined and the double neoprene construction offers a top layer of comfort with a solid feel. Standard Velcro adjusters allow a custom fit.

The real beauty of the integrated system is in the retainers which fasten the strap’s stainless steel D rings through the pad at 90 degrees to the board.

Made from injection molded plastic with stainless steel inserts the retainers offer width micro-adjustment and multiple stance positions even on boards with only two inserts per foot.

These are easily screwed down using a Phillips driver and once attached, there are no sharp edges anywhere in the system to catch the rider’s feet.

Most riders will slip straight into the standard size strap, however small and large strap sizes are available on request to suit those with smaller or larger than average feet or boots.

Watch for these slick new footstrap / pad packs shipping with the latest Underground boards, together with improved grab handles and the popular board rail grab bars.

All accessories can be ordered through your Underground dealer as separate items for retro-fitting to your favorite board.

they appear to be pretty damn similar to every single footstrap/pad on the market, in the fact that they are comprised of a pad, and a strap.

I mean, how much variation can you possibly have in a strap and pad combination?

Looks like the unique thing with them is the stainless D and bracket to mount them to the board. Seems like a good idea to me.
My FLX has Liquid Force pads on it these days, found the original UG ones a bit hard on the feet. It's a bit hard to tell how comfy they are by looking at em, but they look like a softer EVA, like the LF or dakine pads....
How many dollar?

OK SB lets see you design and build a new pad!

Adrian they look excellent - coutoured to the profile of the foot and not one continuous smooth surface which can cause blistering

To be honest most of the 8 months was spent emailing design files and receiving unsatifactory prototypes. It took a week long trip to Thailand to sort it out in the end. And still a little more waiting after that...
We are however very happy with the end result, it is comfy very adjustable and easy to fit on the board. I guess you might have to actually fit a pair on a board to appreciate the adjustment option.
Thanks Adrian

Adrian,
Looks good, if they are anything like your boards I'm sure they will measure up. Great to see there's still a few out there that are prepared to push things forward when finding short comings rather than following the ones prepared to take a risk.

Will look for the reviews by riders when they have been tried out by a few crew.

whats with wasting time trying to re-invert the humble foot strap . the old ones are fine
wouldnt time be better spent working out how to get rid of double concaves, some pretty graphics and affordable prices .

it looks to me like they are trying to build pads and straps with more and more support, do you think one day they will just evolve into bindings.

Picked up my new Underground boards last night ..the new 38 and the 48. The 48 looks like it will plan in a fart. Graphics are great and the new foot pads are very nice , can't wait to get the new kit on the water.
