The north evo is a great stable allrounder.
I was going to say the north rebel, but as you don't want 5th line then the answer is a north fuse.
Ive owned all 3 kites (rebel, fuse and evo) over the years and my favourite is the fuse.
its basically a 4 line bridal rebel.
if you check
www.northkites.com
there is info on the fuse.
the site doesn't have the new one, but it is available.
it jumps well, has good low end, high end and relaunches.
what more do you want
Have you flown the new Fuse? If so what are the differences?
I agree I should consider the Fuse but wasn't sure the new one was out.
i haven't as yet, but i have seen one inflated.
The basic difference between it and the rebel is the 5th line.
The fuse uses bridals and an easy 4 line system, the Rebel uses 5th with no bridals.
The kites them self are pretty much the same and fly not a whole lot differently.
Im a FUSE fan for sure, and am waiting on a new 10m to arrive.
where are you located??
im happy to organise a demo for you...
Hi JB
I will try and demo a few kites in another month or two through my local North dealer at Collaroy. I used to ride 2009-2010 Rebel 9 & 12 combo and I liked their direct feel, boost, etc but I expected them to be a better surf kite than I thought they were. (Possibly my lack of skill)
Does the Fuse tend to pull you off the wave? (I found the Rebel did that a bit.)
No flying high I can support what you said about the rebel 100 percent. Just a beautiful kite, but why they market it as a wave kite is still beyond me. It is functional at best. I'm sure I will upset the many rebel riders but I say to them go and try some dedicated wave kites then get back on a rebel.
The fuse is designed to fly like the rebel on four lines.
So I'd try and demo the evo, wainman, actually better still do a google search on 'all terrain kite reviews 2012'. Someone mentioned the north Neo to me. Apparently a lot of crew rave about them in the surf and they do freestyle really well. It is not just a beginners kite, a lot of dudes I spoke to said north got the marketing of this wrong. Catalyst 2013 at a pinch. More C in it. Remember ozone have a specific feel about them just as the north kites do.
Also don't disregard the Airush lithium either, it will be the kite of my choice I think. Do you want to jump more than you surf? More surf orientated, less jumping potential. Then the freestyle stuff also sits along the spectrum. Sounds from your description, mainly TT and mushy surf, you would do well to demo the lithuim as well.
