Not sure bud but I found the best wind in Indonesia to be in Aceh.. altho a bit strong and it hits from the SW and it seems consistent.. what pissed me off was I had a big kite and the wind was blowing up a storm I wasnt expecting such strong wind but will take a smaller kite the next trip i go.. good winds all

gilli is windy

but it might've been the mushies

launching is a pain.. the beach is pure coral chunks, but it was 20kts cross on with sloppy waves running a half dozen turn lengths at waist to shoulder height...

plus there were mushies, and euro chicks on mushies and dance music with euro chicks on mushies dancing... I skinned all the toes on both my feet and didn't notice for a week...

Yes Gili has wind. Of the 3 island Gili Air is the one better for kitesurfing as the beach where to launch is wider. There are actually 2 spot on Gili Air and since last summer a small kite operator: http://www.gilikitesurf.com/
But season there is shorter then West of Bali, best months are August to October when the trades get more southerly.
Wind could get quite strong too, we got report of days over 30 knots.

Depends what you want. $7/night in the national park and kite to sandy bay each day can be pretty cheap

plus the water is cleaner, wind is more reliable, you have a choice between flat water/surf, no crowds, no pollution, & less travel time...and if you want to pretend you're in indo just eat anything from the caltex & you'll have the equivalent of bali belly in no time

No Way - never. (except maybe for the mushies now that was funny)
Exmouth is THE place to GO.
Bali - good for a change of scenery. Exmouth's not so hot on that score - bloody hot otherways though.

you live in the act. there will be mushies growing all over the place as soon as it gets damp. they are different to the tropical variety but just as strong.

and a bit of mushy etiquette: before you pick, give the shroom a flick- it releases spores so more grow. and don't pick the spot clean.

For a new south welshmen you know mushies good,
Don't trust my judgment on the wild varieties.
They come in little squares of cardboard now
the wonders of technology, makes me wish i perused a career in pharmaceuticals .....

I could be rich now, ,,, or in gaol
