The wind forecast is SE 10-20 kts.Looking at the charts they concur. This means dead on shore at nobby's.this is tricky at the best of times ,having a fair few riders out there at once will be be trickier.
Stockton would be a good back up if this is the case,X shore
Due to a school reunion I can't be there .Have fun

Cheers

not on board, it wasn't like that at all. I was waiting for confirmation if that was correct before I posted it!! Membership is $60 and this covers you for the whole year.

At the moment the forecast is looking SE, as Mr Float mentioned this is onshore at Nobby's , but it is still kiteable (I've done it a few times) and I'm working the theory that anywind is good wind. So we will make the SE work if that’s what we have.

Unfortunately the application with Council does not cover moving the event to Stockton. However, the application does cover Sunday as well and the forecast for Sunday at the moment is NE. So if people don’t want to ride the SE at Nobby’s then we will just call it off and people can go to Stockton or Dixon Park. Then on Sunday we can run the heats etc at Nobby’s in the NE.

Other enticing bits are there for the no wind problem? This week has been good for wind, with a NE most afternoons. But just in case (this is Newcastle), hopefully Slingshot Dave will bring his trampoline along, there will be a footy and some cricket gear. I’ve got some ideas on a couple things we can do to get people involved with a little competitive edge and then of course there will be free food and drinks.

Well, the weather at the moment is average!!

there is < 5kts from the SE (it will pickup most likely) but only forecast to be 10 - 15 which means BIG KITES! as it is 10-15 onshore.

there is wide spread fog limiting visibility to around 8 km,
at around 100 - 300 feet, Virga precipitation , thunderstorms out to see 100km, and a few rain cells inland that look as if they will miss us.

if it does rain or worse when the wind comes in then we will can the official ride day for today. if it's not raining or thunderstorming and there's wind the meet will be at 1pm in the carpark.
see you there!

free drinks and food courtesy of NSWKBA + no enrty fee.

Unfortunately due to the wet ( 12 mm before 8:30am! ), cloudy weather todays' social ride day will be posponed until a later date, possibly tomorrow. There is wind up here at the moment ~ 10 / 17kts but there is a large rain cell moving in which will dominate for the rest of the day maybe with some thunder and lightening when it gets here. Tomorrows forecast looks promising in terms of no rain, and maybe we will see the NE flow come in with some sunshine and nobbies will arc up !!!! hopefully.

If in the Newy area, there will probably be kiters down there today still ( like me) riding in the rain anyway :), just remember to put your kite down before any dark grey/black clouds that look tall with anvil features on the top pass near by, or if yo see a white cap squall coming through.

look forward to doing it tomorrow!

tomorrows forecast = Fine, Warm to very warm. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds.

The sun is out today in Newy!! The forecast is SE 10/15 and already there is a light SE breeze!

We will be meeting at 1300 in the car park at Nobbies.

There is a truck show on in the park of the foreshore area, however they have not blocked of access to the Nobby's car parks. There are a couple of car parking areas, one on the beach side and one on the harbour side, so you should be able to get a park.

Should the wind not pick up, the BBQ and drinks will still be provided.

See you all there and BYO wind PLEASE

i put on 60 meter lines and was able to edge upwind on a 16... but the kite felt like it was in the outer atmosphere and i couldn't manage enough line tension to jump..learnt a good lesson though that 60 meters does by you extra!, I'd say atleast 3 kts more!
