Coming over in a couple of weeks. Need a bit of local advice please.
1/. How's wind doing this time of year. Is it worth bringing my kite gear over? Today's chart says NW 15/20, shore obviously no good, how about Lake Macquarie? Where is best place to launch from?
2/. Where is most popular spot for kiting at Newcastle - for waves and for flat water?
3/. Should I stay in the city or at the lake? Any recommendations of good hotels (4 star+) please?

yes we are finally getting wind .
Probably stay at Belmont .Most winds in winter are westerlies but we have been getting some wicked cross shore winds and surf .(Its not far to get over to redhead or blacksmiths)
Watch out for razor shells in the lake (and bullrouts )Booties are probably a good idea if you are going into the lake .
the sharks have had a good feed on a whale that died and washed up on dicko so you shouldn't have to worry about them right now

Is the rumour I heard true that they are going to bury the whale there in the sand???

Already done - there is a bit of an oily sheen running out of the sand at dicko. And LOTS of seabirds, and some sort of shark woodstock out there too probably.
