Hey Em,

People taking my sarcasm the wrong way... Apologies. Just saying it was nice seeing a new face out at Manly. Especially an experienced one

It was great seeing you kiting out at Manly the other day... I'm guessing all those talks you gave the forum about how kiting is banned from Manly was just a ploy to get the beach to yourself? ;) Anyway, I'm sure we'll be seeing you down there again soon...

If you go through the forum I'm sure you'll find that people have said that it isn't. Though having said that and unless something has changed in the last 6 months, kiting in Manly (unless you’re a decent kiter) is discouraged due to the fact.

A- Its generally onshore wind
B- There's not a lot of space from the water line to something hard after the waves took away most of the sand
C- Unless it's really blown out (20 knots or more) there are generally quite a few surfers
D- In the summer when there's NE wind it's usually warm and the beach is packed with people, a lot of people.
E- You can't kite down the beach with out going through the "Flags", due to the fact that you can't go up wind fast enough
F- Due to the wind angle it could get very crowded with a few amount of people.

"E" seams to be the big one meaning that you can only really kite at Manly when the Surf Life Savers go off duty and the flags are put away. If you want to kite on the Northern Beaches Long Reef, Fisherman’s, Narrabeen, and Palm Beach are much better options than Manly.

Oh yeah don't forget the big F@*^ off pipe that sticks into the water with the 2 tall warning signs on it. Almost forgot about that.

Thought as well it was making a long time I hadn't seen a topic personnally adressed to myself!
-gotta keep up the good work, hey...-

"J",

please, go back to my post you're refering to:
seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26808&SearchTerms=Manly
I think you've skipped few sentences of my actual reply, because we were clearly talking about avoiding Manly in summer time, when the beach is crowded, when the flags are out, in order not to encourage tourists or beginners to go there and get us labelled as a dangerous hazards.
-Again- Manly is not banned, and hopefully won't be.

This is the only time of the year I may go to Manly, with may be late Automn, (very first or very last NE) simply because it's the only time of the year where it's sensible to.
There were no flags out, the swell was huge and closing up, there were 5 surfers out from Queenscliff down to south Steyne, if, and I went to see the Surf life savers right as I arrived, asked them if I was OK to kite and they gave me the thumb up. We waved at each other later on when one of them took some students out in the white wash and I went downwind from them.
Gosh it is exhausting to always have to justify oneself.
The post you're quoting is 6 months old, NKBboarding...
Now that I think about it, this has been my only kite in Manly for the past 6 months... You've been waiting for this one, haven't you?

Now please, explain me "J", what did I actually do wrong in your understanding of the world that can justify enough of your time and attention for you to start a topic on Seabreeze?

Next time, click the PM button mate...
Way more appropriate.

And what were you doing on the beach if a NE was blowing!!!

if i wasn't trapped in my cube that day i would have been all over it.

i would have used the icebergs pool though, in winter there are no swimmers and the guards say its cool to kite in it ;)

LOL
couldn't give a stuff Uncle Rico (I've read worse things about myself than what NKBboarding wrote! Still here and taking the piss and smiling with that! Olé...) but you're right: no one reads it and the ones who do couldn't care less any way!.
Just don't like when people make me say things I didn't... My lil "Em outburst" did work tho: NKBboarding did PM me (Genuine thanks "J", wasn't expecting it and truly appreciated the apology) and we're all sweet.
This is all back to happy family ...
An issue?
Where??????
Summer is showing up, the sun's shining, the water's warming up, the wind is kicking in again, there are more toys to play with than kitesurfer can dream off, we're getting 4 more precious weeks of daylight saving this year, this summer is gonna rock!
