Just got an email about The World Kite & Windsurfing Guide:

www.kite-and-windsurfing-guide.com/en/

Does anyone know of any local shops who are going to stock it?

Email Udo. He's the publisher and will be able to tell you who has it locally and when it will be available -- just released a couple of days ago, published in Germany so probably not arrived in Oz yet.

I have a copy of the German language version that came out earlier this year and it's awesome. Great coffee-table book as well. Loads of glossy photos and info on popular spots, but you don't have to worry about it revealing your favourite secret spots -- it covers the whole world so it's mostly the primary spots in a given area.

what's so awesome about it? It's written by smelly german tuero's who think they know everything. Look at the Australia coverage. A little place called queensland appartantly is only good to kite in Brisbane and surrounds. There's a bit of out of the Metro WA as you would expect.

Probably shxtloads of tips on how to overstay your welcome, have a bath in a handbasin, evade council by parking your wicked camper in the carpark after sunset etc etc

bla bla ..... the Europe one is great. I like when people talk about things which they never had in their hand.

Of course you may can find all the info's from website and do research in forums and emailing people. I rather go kiting then do research and buy the book.....

Whilst a coffee table book is great to, well, sit on a coffee table, the web has a number of much better resources for kite surfing locations.

NSW for example: http://www.nswkba.com.au/locations

yeh but renniks get to make $20 a book if you buy it from them
and then renniks have enough to buy six packs to hand out to galahs here and there...

This may not be such a bad thing....
While it may not do a great deal for ones ego, about kiting in one of the best spots in the world, it might mean that you might be able to kite in your own little world and not get crowded out for a while longer.
I don't need anybody else to know that where I kite is great, as long as I appreciate it.

Might help me plan my next holiday as well!
