Hi,
Planning a holiday with family in Noosa in October. Are the winds favourable around that time to kite ?

What size is the most used ?

What's are the best flat water spots or non flatwater ?

Usually good NE winds at that time of year. The mouth of the noosa river is a world class spot IMO. Outgoing tide with a NE is the best.

Smooth sections inside the spit. Local regulations require you to take care when jumping near any boats using the passage.

No kiting on the surf beach at noosa.

As above post stated it is also good at Caloundra. Another bar entrance that really works with wind against tide.

Enjoy your trip

Fitzy,
Thanks for the info

Maybe you can come up with your Raptures and we can ride together.
Sound's like a great place to ride.
Is the tide dangerous to teach in? I intend to teach a friend when we're up there.

Hey Hurrah,

Most of Noosa River mouth is only a couple of feet deep except in the channel which would be overhead, but the channel makes up less than 50% of the width of the river. Only prob with teaching at Noosa is the number of kiters there on a good day and the crowd on the beach.

Fun spot to kite though. Lit on a 12 in 15 knots of wind

Mate I'm booked into Noosa from 15th October for a couple of weeks.Got 11 out of 14 days at the rivermouth when I was up there same time last year. Mainly on my 12 mtre but had the 16 up a few times. Most time spent on the 141 SX but did give the old Square two a run a couple of times - you know how much I love that board. Fantastic with an outgoing tide and NE wind. Gets very shallow when your off the channel as mentioned by another correspondant. At times I found myself cutting through 2 to 4 inches of water. Very interesting sound as fins cut through the sand.
I agree that it is not a great place to teach - not only because it can get pretty crowded but also because the speed of the run out tide is quite amazing - someone starting of would find it a bit daunting. I'll be down at Brighton tomorrow if the Southerly comes to fruition - I'll give you the full bit on Noosa if you catch up with me.
regards col

I will also be up at Noosa in October and bringing the Raptures for a run for sure. Lake Wyeba is a very good choice for learners as at times the outgoing tide really rips at the Noosa River entrance. But that is half the attraction, as staying upwind is a piece of P**s. Just keep your board on if you crash !!!!!

See ya out there - Fitzy - Gold Coast OZ

Fitzy,

You bring your Rapture 12 and I will bring my 15. We could swap and try it out. I will also bring the Rage 8 and 12. I have also customised my CC bar just like DrLightwind has so that Relaunch is a piece of P#!@ on the 15.

Tully, Sorry I didn't get your post till last night and really did not think yesterday at Brighton Le Sands would have been worth it. Did you get out. I've been dying to ride my 15 more to see what it can really do.

October it is in Noosa. I think we are staying at the French Quaterts in Noosa which apparently is a bit of a walk down to the river mouth.
We will only have one car so my wife gets it.

Kusu, If you still have your CB by then I might do a deal with you.

Thanks guys and hope to see you all in Noosa in October.

Hey Paulio

Will be staying at a penthouse in the Netanya Resort which is at the southern end of Noosa Beach. You can bring your airbed and sleep in the rooftop spa if you like. If we get a good gang going up their we will be able to give Noosa 24 Hours to get out of Town !!!!!

Strong winds forcast at the Gold Coast for the next four days - Lets Goooooo
