Has anyone got any info on Norfolk Island? I have the chance to go there for free and was wondering if you can go kiteboarding. Is there any wind?. I was going to go Dec/Jan.

Any comments would be appreciated.

my mate krusty the clowns family live on norfolk island and he has surfed there for years.
he told me windsurfing was a bit dodgey because of all the rocky outcrops, but from his explaination some of the little coves may well be better suited to kiting, with assisted launching and landing.
thats all i know and i dont have krustys number.
hope this helps.
say hi to colleen for me.
i've been to lord howe island if you need any info on that little cracker of a place.
regards Ian.

Hey Ian

Don't let the cat out of the bag re LHI
Absolute magic. Have you ever sailed there? I suspect out at the reef break in the lagoon could be clean air, but the inside would be dirty? Praps a little downwinder to Balls Pyramid?

hi gasman,
a few of us took our windsurfers there years ago and our brand new naish AR 3.5. 9 meter.
what a magic lagoon.we only got to windsurf on it a few times. struck a doldrum. dooooh. and we were only just learning to kite so that was a great laugh for all of us.

the place works in winter with the souwest trades and those reef breaks need a whole lot of exploring.
just writing about it makes me want to go back.
an island of unparalleled beauty and isolation.
and only pushbikes for transportation.
looking at it now.
perfect for kiting.
regards ian.
