Hey Uncle Rico,

The North Freestyle Fish is a gem, I'm riding it strappless at the moment. Found it really loose and easily to ride both heal and toe side. A very fun board for everyone, North have certainly got it right with this one.

A really good board for 1-3 foot or just for those light wind days.
I'm sure if you bought one you will not be disappointed.

Budgee.

Hey Budgee,

I'm considering getting one of these as my only wave riding board, but everyone seems to say it fun for small waves and light wind. What's it like in bigger waves or windier days?

Your comments really appreciated...

Been riding a 5'9" ROCKETfish-in up to 25 knots in up to slightly o/head waves. Not affiliated with any shop or manufacturer.

Riding it strapped at the moment-but will go unstrapped.

Great board-silky smooth.

Fast down the line with nice release off the top and holds the line in a bottom turn.

Board has a slightly stiffer flex than a surfboard (of PE construction) and doesn't have as fine an edge in the tail-but for a production board, it's a gem.

Has great grip and heaps of insert options and the flex straps are super comfortable.

Stock fins are funky plastic numbers that flex HEAPS and start to humm with any load. I'll get an FCS adaptor for the mini-Tuttle boxes and try a few of my FCS fin combos.

Overall-I highy recommend the board.

Rico,

The Freestyle fish is more of a fun board for light winds and small surf, I'm riding mine with a 12m 08 Rebel I weigh 100kgs and have had it out in 25kts and found it very comfortable to handle.

I f you are after a more wave riding board, like Loco has said the Rocket Fish are the go. Paul Jackson swears by them, I'm pretty sure he won the NSW tiltes on one this year.

Give him a bell I'm sure he'll be happy to help you out. His number is 0418722928.

The rocket fish is unreal my 5'9' arrives this arvo and i can't wait to get it out on the water. Hopefully next couple of days.

I've been riding the 6'0' the last few months and love that but paul j and i fight over it all the time, hence why i'm getting myself the 5'9'.

Also been riding the freestyle fish and it's great fun on lighter wind days.

At NSW/QLD state wave titles we had 7m rebel's with the 6'0 rocket fish and it was an unreal combo!!

Paul would be more than happy to answer any questions you have. Budgee has put his number up for you.

Your local north shop should also be able to help you out with any questions and pricing.

If you are heading down to mambo you can always hit someone up around the north tent for a try.

And yes i am a sponsored north rider.

xx angie
