For those of us lucky enough to be able to get to the mountains, when do you think the first bit of snow is going to fall?

I'm gunna say the afternoon of the 28th May.

Anyone remember that first (and only) real dump of last year? when was that?

Last years was just in time for opening weekend on the Friday or something like that. The forecast doesn't look too hot at the moment. My vote is for no skiable natural snow till mid-June.

A good long range link .Still a long way out but the model seems to have been pretty accurate for quite a while (tho the cold outbreak has been moving back a day for the last 3 days )
Early snow is not a good indicator of what the season will be like 82 shocker early snow

I'm just hoping for something decent, wouldn't mind going for a board, last year it was drinks at the pub then about 2 hours of out-of-control toboganning, best time I've had on the mountain without spending the $90 on a lift ticket!

if there's heaps of snow - good spots are at Kiandra and near Round mountain get really keen and go on to Jagungal. failing that it a chairlift $ ride to the top of Thredbo or the back of the quad chair at Perisher-

Snow is always good in NZ just deciding how many Helli-drops for this year But for AUS it will start on the 3 June!

nope unisys has just updated and the system is a snow fizzer .the good news tho is that there will be rain for SE oz ,so not all bad .
Weatherzone GFS is hinting at a dusting tho for those who like to wake up and check out the snowcams

I gota say when i moved here it was to get away from the snow but i would mind pulling the board out from under the bed and going for a ride.

Sorry for the hijack. If anyone wants a kick ass snow kite, check out the 'buy n sell'. I have a 2006 12m Ozone frenzy going super cheap. It's on there for $900 but i'll take $850 (complete). It is in 'as new' condition.
