Total newb - never even tried it but I have a launch-anywhere boat & a visitor keen catch a feed.
Any local knowledge/tips etc. most welcome.

Last time I kited the Estury I was sitting back having a rest in about 2 feet of water, kite and 12 o'clock and feet in the foot straps. I was just enjoying the warm tranquil setting when I got the fright of my life. There was an ugly splashing and snapping sound right in my lap. It was a bloody crab. Frightened the life out of me. In the position he was in he could have snapped off everything that was important to me. Can you imagine the blood curdling sound and silouette as I took off into the sunset with a crab dangling from there.

palm beach rockingham. need to be out there early 6-6:30am

head over towards the garden island causeway and about 800-1000m out

throw your mate in the water with a tow rope, goggles, flippers and some long leather gardeners gloves

tow him around over the weed backs and tell him when he spots a crab to dive down and grab the little f***er and not to worry too much if they put up a fight

you of course, being the captain, sit back and enjoy the early morning tranquility whilst navigating the boat around...

we picked up about 35-40 this way 2 weeks ago
