has any of the sunny coast crew kited out to OWI. could you get in and ride any waves. could you land your kite with somebody else helping you out there.

and what about kiting around the noosa headland in either a NE or SE.

i reckon it would be great fun to do both.

hey surfingboyo owi is not the place to land your kite or stuff up in anyway as it is a long swim home...ha but it is fun in the right conditions.

Noosa headland is fun to go around in a N wind, start at rm tack out the bay an then go downwind to coolum, I would like to go around in a SE but you would run out of wind soon as you get around the headland either that or just keep going across the bay to Noosa north shore an have some one with a fourby to pick you up around the first or second cutting, I am keen for that one!

Dude.. be really careful out at old women. We go out there a fair bit, and if you loose your board it will get washed up onto barnical covered rocks. Sunseeker got mine once in a herioc effort in gusting winds whilst also carrying his board. A few nasties in the water out there too... We were circled by a big tigershark once with the fin out of the water like something out of jaws (blownaway will laugh at this as he eats sharks for breakfast with his freediving). Like blownaway said, its at least an hour swim back to the beach if you kite has any problems. Waves are fun to ride there, but I found you can get more down the line at the beach.

Noosa headland is fun to kite around (only in a northerly). It gets a little rough on the north wall from backwash though.

Be carefull - OWI is nasty old bitch and like to eat kites and riders.
Hve ridden there a bit lately and a few of our crew have had incidents
1- lost a whole kite off the back wher the 2 swells converge - the whole kite just disapeared and we havd to tow the rider back to land
2 if you drop your kite you wont get ip up again -leeward side - and will need a full rescue
this happened to another guy the other day

It is a great experience - there are good waves but BE WARNED

Advanced riders only but that won't even guarantee you a trouble free session

if you go out you need a group of 3 minimum

or a rescue boat / jetski

have fun

Haha, someone should tell this to sunseeker, he goes out there alone and tears is up freestyle amoungst the waves.

Not so much anymore - after you broke your leg echo I've pulled my head in a bit. Wouldn't want to swim back from OWI with my leg flapping in the water and my foot kicking me in the knee on the same leg like you had...I always make sure there's at least 2 of us now. It's awesome when the water is super clean and you can see the reef under you. I've had a few awesome flat water sessions on the western side when there's been no swell.
