We put a unique serial number on each kite and people who buy our kites register the number on our website, this has helped prove that the kite belonged to the right person. I don't know if all other brands are doing this but it would be a good idea if they did.

Saying my blue 10m North 2008 kite got stolon may not get you far.

Back in 2000, I had 3 kites stolen from my car, the police said that they are mostly druggies who don't know what a kite is half the time.

Or you could just get a kick ass marker and write on your kite
"This kite belongs to XXXX, arrest the motherf@#ker selling you this kite"

There was this druggie in Sydney who got busted, she had 3 rooms full of stolen stuff. She got a warning and let off.

Last time I got broken into they left me $20 and a sympathy card..

Not only for stolen kites or boards but when ever you purchased a kite etc, come and register it here.
It will bring more kiters here and when you are going to buy I second hand gear you know where its coming from.

Heard of a mate who lost a swag of kites recently from his vehicle in a (supposedly) secure car park. It has to help if everyone can check before buying anything second hand - esp if its Oz wide. You could even just ask for serial no. when you first ring from an ad. Word would soon spread across the scum if kite gear became hard to move or likely to be traced.
Dont know about other brands but my SS's all have sewn in tags with serial nos. Easily torn off so you would need to permanent marker them onto the kite somewhere as well.

Its hard enough to sell your second hand gear legit. Only a fool would steal kites thinking they are going to make some cash.
