This may seem like a dumb question since I've been kiting for a couple of years but I've recently changed boards with the bindings set closer together than I'm normally used to. They were set like that in the shop and I thought I'd leave them that way. It's taking a bit of getting used to but that may be because the board is 5cm smaller than the previous one.
Should they be the same as settings on a wakeboard? Is there an optimum setting (e.g shoulder width, past shoulder width) or is it just preference?
I'm 59kgs, 164 cms
Thanks for your advice.

There's no real right or wrong
Shoulder width a part is a guidline but it comes down to what feels right, try a couple different set ups to see what you like doesn't take long to changed it around.

Coming from a snowboarding background I set my bindings as wide a part as possible on any board (water or snow) that I own and it makes a lot of difference for me - partciularly in shifting pressue to the nose/tail of the board and in executing rotations.
That said, I'm sure there's a limit to how wide you should go, but at 6'4 I have a pretty wide stance naturally and haven't found it.

jump off a chair planting both feet on landing. That should be your stance width.
