I like your photo. I had 12 scews, 3 plates and a bone graft in mine. Broke it in January 2009 and was kiting in October that year, so cheer up.

Can you tell me how your heal goes now after a session with heaps of jumps in it, if your jumping ?

Ouch. I know how that feels - I broke both heels last year - motorbike accident. I got quite good at wheelies in a wheelchair though. Hang in there.

Bugger, I broke my leg pretty badly (tib/fib) 8 months ago, got back into kiting about 2 months back. Hang in there, and don't read into all those bad recovery stories on the web.

I found exercise bike riding to be a good low impact activity to build up my chicken leg once I could sorta walk.

I don't jump anymore just carve around and ride the waves on my Shinn Wave mutant. The foot doesn't give me any trouble kiting. X-rays show that the bone density is not as high as it should be though. I can run but have limited mobility. In 2010 I completed a 7 day hike across southern europe (170 km) without too much trouble. If you're young you'll heal fast and make a full recovery. Don't forget the physio too. Get into a pool and walk, kick, bounce along and get it strong.

+1
exercise bike and walk/swimming in pool daily
then get out on a skim or something strapless with no jumping to get the kite action going again... i had to lazy a chicken leg (nice description!) through some turns at the start, and had a scare or two when i strapped back in and powered up a bit, so just take it easy in lighter winds for a while and keep on the physio routine and you'll be sweet!
