Hey Ozone instinct owners (1st series)

Any you guys in aussie land tried out the bridle mods seen on kite forum??

www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2334699
http://www.kiteforum.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2334993&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=10

I wanna know how much sucess anyone else has had.

I recentley performed this mod, and have yet to finish tuning it correctley.

My results so far have been awsome, at the moment it is running with the front lines an inch or 3 to short and only being able to test my 11m in 13knts so far, has prooved to to slightley fly bacwards, its a lil too tight on the rear lines, you can see the kite really pivot back off the front lines, should be interesting in stronger winds.

The mod if too much back attach point tention is used causes the te tip to flare heaps in my first attemp at the bridle.

But if you make it exacltey as shown with some extra knots for adjustment all shall be sweet.

The performance in 13knts was very! noticeable, before the mode a kiteloop on a back roll for me was barley acheavable with the kite really looping low into the powerzone and slow

After the mod looping the kite would have been 1/3 to 1/2 the distance of the loop smaller, much better.

I couldnt comment on bar pressures due to the light winds, but definatley turned faster.

I need more wind in the gong to really try it out.

I shall keep you all posted with the results and some pics. The mod costed under $100, and i would say all 13/11 m users will love it, specifically if there too poor to upgrade to an 07 like me ;)

Hey Macca

Unless you just swapped future wives I think you mean a BRIDLE mod

I'm going to do the mod as soon as I can organise a sailmaker to sew the rear line attachment points. Let us know how you like it, I'd like to know if the relaunch is any quicker with the rear line points further back.
The other mod I'd like to make is to update the bar to the 07 bar with front line flag out. Ozone indicated they would release an upgrade kit, any dealers (KP) have any info?

I reckon with these two changes the 06 Instinct should be very similar to the Sport, but without one pump.

No news on a kit just yet, doubt that there will be, its so easy for an experienced sailmaker to do.
I saw a guy in Coffs who had done the mod, well Bob Dawson from Coffs Kiteboarding did the mod and tuned the bridles, and he was very impressed, he said it sped up the turning, and lowered bar pressure.
Relaunch of the Instinct1 requires some swimming at the kite, once it is on its back it goes up easy.

hey tobes, when you get the sailmaker to sew on the attachment points, you should perform this other mod i've seen around and sew in an inflatable bladder into the leading edge...heard they make kites go wayyyy better.....

Just ** stirring...how the rivermouth? haven't seen you in ages

wiseguy!
Very happy with the Instincts. But I recently "tuned up" my Flysurfers...you should have been at Broulee last week....pretty good view from up there...
Best of both worlds. Variety, the spice of life and all that...
See you when its windy.

Steve, I meant a kit to upgrade the 06 bar to the 07 front line flag out system...twannie indicated it would be available on kiteforum. I might just build one. It would make self landing much easier.

I gave the guy at Coffs 2 leaders from an old 06 bar, and a ring from it as well, then with a little bit of work he had a flagging front line safety system for self landing.

I can do the same for you, just contact me and I can send you the bits, for free!

i used the 5th like kit to make mine, just added a small shakle to where the 5th line attaches to the trim system, so the shakle can slide up the 5th line, and added a stoper ball, and extention to the bottom of the 5th line.

OK guys FINALLY!!! got to test the kite in 20-25knts (s.se) yesterday. spent about 6 hours kiting, and now the instinct is awsome!!!!!

Bar pressure hasnt really changed, but it requires less input to turn the kite, thus the kite when you turn normally is MUCH faster, my problems with not steering the kite back down on a jump is now replaced with oversteer :D you are also able to make huge S's with the kite thru the powerzone on a slow landing which i could never do before.

Anyone with an 11-13-15m instinct 1 should do this mod, for about $100 its the best money you can spend on your kite.

As for relaunch, before the mod i never had to swim to the kite to relaunch it, and i never had many problems with relaunch besides on the gusty side of the beach, it was rolling onto the LE, which is due to a lack of wind.

The only thing, when the mod done right, that changes is the turning speed of the kite, you dont loose bar pressure, you still get awsome feedback thru the bar.

too much kiting yesterday i wore thru the plastic guard over the chicken loop line :'(
