Was down at the beach the other day there was all these kooks on wave kites who couldn't even kite, not even upwind in a section

What the hell's happening? First straps and now all these wave kites

Should shops moderate wave kite sales to non kooks?

Orr geeez they couldnt even kite.

They probably dont even lift.

Not true. Learner kites typically are slow and sit back deeper in the window for even power and steady predictability. Wave kites (tailored to the average punter) in theory should be designed to do almost the opposite; very fast turning, fly forward easily with a very on and off power delivery.

Everyone is open to whatever style of kite they like to ride in whatever conditions, but i know a high number of NORTH schools use NEO's.
The exact same kite as Airton, Sky and all the other wave team riders.The easy relaunch, stability and even power ticks boxes for both riders.Just my opinion.

Not denying that learners may use a Neo or any wave kite for that matter... However it is pretty apparent that if two kites were designed for the direct specs of each discipline (Learner, Wave) they would certainly be different ends of the spectrum. (Kites specifically tailored to these two groups on the market most certainly are).

Guess what, we all learnt on C-kites back in the day as well (2-line and 4-line) and many schools used them to teach learners... I guess that makes C-kites learners kites as well and not the advanced kites they propose to be!!!

FYI Ozones Reo is very different to a learners kite (like the new Catalyst or Uno).

The only thing this thread and both of you @JB @Plummet highlight very well is the fact that Kiteboarding brands for the most part rely on one big load of marketing bull****, and also that you can learn (or ride) on almost anything if you want to .

What a load of BS some of these post are

love some of the post trying to categorise different kitting brands and types

Been kitting for 14 years from two line to every thing in between and although very experienced wouldn't class myself as a great kiter far from it

Have seen and kited with some true super stars over the years riding full on c kites in waves and riding wave kites freestyle , the rider makes it happen not the kite

Unless you are in the top 10% around the world , most of us wouldn't know the difference between riding different brand and designs

The best kiter out there be it on Wave kites ,c kites , what ever , SB or twinnys , brands or home made boards
Is the one having the most Fun

I happen to have the ozone range in my kite quiver with the exception of c4 (which I used to own). I haven't tried the endure yet either.

So I have chrono, edge. catalyst and reo. The reo at cat are practically the same. cat a little more lift and less drift, reo less lift more drift. The reo is easy as **** to fly.

For me the cat and reo are at one end of the spectrum, edge at the other for lei's then chrono even sillier again at the bleeding edge of "not for a learner kite".

So I guess we will beg to differ on this one.
