Can someone make pictures of the Fuel 2007?
Want to buy it, but haven't seen it in real yet. And could someone write a small test report of this kite?

Thx!

ive seen the new fuel and its the best looking kite ive seen.

why are slingshot demo'ing the link when its a cr.ap kite?
i really dont see how they have the cheek to demo a kite when they cant provide it to customers in a fly out the bag solution?
ie - the demo with red bridal is ok (apparently) but customers cant get hold ot the red bridal yet. so whats the point?

hopefully the red bridles will be availible by then. the demo links we have already have the red bridle on them. and all the new links that are in coming in the next shipment of gear will now come standard with the red bridle and can be flown straight out of the bag. if they arrive in time for sunday anyone with a link can also bring there kite down and Graham from choice kitesurfing will fit the new bridle for you (provided they are here). i have flown the link with the red bridle at mambo, and so far there has been nothing but good reviews from the red bridle on the 07 links. there were mixed feelings about the original bridle (as there always mixed feelings with every brands kites) . the demo kites already have the red bridle on them so come down and try them for yourself . the new 07 fuels are insane. loving the new 7m. the fuels are also more bomb proof than ever.

ryland,
Why is it that you still ride an 06 fuel with the links out a month or so ago? I noticed you were on the link for a day or two when the helicopter flew over and took shots of you, but then went back to the yellow fuel? Anything wrong with the link? What is your opinion on it?

i now have 07 fuels. i have had a quick fly of alot of the sle kites and bows on the market and havent found one that is better than my fuels. the heli photo at scarbs was a coincidence as i just got the link. i still have a couple of links and they definately are better with the red bridle but my fuels do everything i need a kite to do and love em so why change. the bows and sle kites work good for alot of people and thats great but i just love my fuels so im sticking with them this year, but i will fly the link sometimes once i get the red bridle as the do sit well for wave riding but i prefer the power of a "c" kite over sle kites for my riding.

this really sux. customers who already have bought a link, have to wait it out for the fix - cause they have already given SS their money. where new kites sitting in shops - have the fix for new customers only.
ive been waiting since september for this fix, and it just winds me up futher to hear that new kites have it - but existing customers are ignored. nice customer service.

i know i can fly the kite on 5 line - but i dont want to because i want the bow features of the kite. as advertised by slingshot.

if you havent got your red bridle yet then they must not be here, so no kites in shops will have them either, however when the new links arive they will have red bridles fitted as standard and can be flown straight out of the bag. they will be ariving when the red bridles arive for the existing customers i guess. just going of what i was informed at mambo so contact your local slingshot retailer for more up to date info

Got my hands on 2 demo links in Melb (thanks RPS). 10.5 & 12. Have only used the 10.5 in 5 line mode. Have the red bridle for both so will test it out to compare. I found that in 5 line mode the trim needed to be correct on the 5th to keep the kites shape & power. Takes a bit of getting used to.

sweet thanks! i have contacted Andrew Regan and he's still waiting for the red bridals unfortunately.
my advice to anyone thinking of buying a link would be to actually try the kite you buy - dont base your decision on the demo kite - or what the kite shop tells you about the kite. Or you will end up like me, with a kite or in my case 2 kites that do not fly out of the bag.

I was out the other day and there was a guy who had just bought a new link he put it in the air and it wouldnt fly properly he couldnt turn it buy the time I got to him he had already been dragged through the rocks spinifex and bushes before finally getting the thing to stay in one place I told him to put it down as the bridle looked all wrong. the thing is he had heard nothing about things being wrong with this kite, you would think the retailer would at least inform him instead of just taking his money. My question is ss know there bridle doesnt work so why do they come set up with the bridle when people buy them. why dont they set them up with the fifth line instead, at least unsuspecting customers wouldnt nearly kill themselves.

This is exactly my thoughts. since my first use of the link, I was on the water, kite jellyfished, then luffed, landed in the waves, got washed up, which I imagine stretched the bridal - making the problem worse.
Flying it now in 4 line mode is friggin scary. no pull one minute, colapses then falls into the power zone - fully powered then next.
The kite is dangerous in 4 line mode.

so why is the link still being advertised and sold and people NOT being told it must be flown in 5 line mode only??

Even on this site - the link is advertised as the only true hybid kite that can be flown in 4 line or 5 line mode.
(the only people who can do this are the special few how have the new bridal)

Ive been waiting for the bridal for ages , and its not going to be here in time for a kiting holiday - which im really pis.sed about , but still the kite is being advertised , demo'd and all the reps saying its the best hybrid kite out there.
Its not. And it can / and should only be flown in 5 line mode. At present. And it should be advertised as so.

on ya bigmark, keep the pressure on

the silence from ss is deafening

a shame as i am a dedicated fuel fan and have always got great support from ss australia getting up graded gear etc

maybe they need to do a hellfish, recall them and refund some dough

just went back through my emails. SS emailed me on the 19/10/06 to tell me that they would be shipping directly to me a new "red bridle" within a couple of weeks.

guess what, i'm still waiting...

fortunately i'm more than happy with the kite in the 5 line setup but still want the option of 4 lines as actively promoted by them.

i'm now thinking of adding a 7m kite to my quiver. this time it won't be an SS though

Hi Big Mark, oops, I just realised I only have the red bridle for the 10.5. The 12 has the old bridle, and has had the mods done for the 5th line mode. Hope to try it out this weekend.

farkin winge!
i tried the 9 on saturday and so did a lot of others.
was rigged up in 5th line mode and worked fine. in fact better than fine, was pretty dam nice. considering it was pretty light and was draggin my tail around was gruntier than i thort.
i have seen ry, jake and others riding it on 4 lines and they didnt seem to have quams...
maybe listen less to the forum stirrers and try blaming your workmanship rather than your tools.
one thing i found was there are a lot of settings and adjustments with knots and so forth so maybe you guys just dont spend the time setting your gear up properly.
if you are over em, ill have em!
or sell em and go to another sle, who knows you may find the grass is greener, or you may find all sle's require a bit of change in your riding style to suit...

Hi mate, yeah i know Im wingeing - but i am a bit peeved that my 2 brand new kites are not working out the bag, and Ive been waiting over 2 months for Slingshot to send the fix. (and its all links, and most link owners - not just mine - SS reps have issued emails confirming this, check other forums - there are plenty of unhappy people)

You right, i am no expert at fiddling with the settings, and neither are a lot of people. When I bought my peter lynns, they flew straight out of the bag, when I bought I fuels , they too flew right out the bag, when I bought my crossbows, they flew right out the bag.
If the kites dont fly right out the bag, perhaps slingshot and the shops should be telling us before we buy them.

Anyway - I bought the kite to fly in 4 line, because i dont want to fly a kite like a fuel, i want a kite like a bow. yes yes Im a bowmasexual, :-)
In frustration, as Im on a kiting holiday tomorrow, ive setup the kites in 5 line mode, and had a first fly on sunday.
Kite flies well, and has loads of depower. Im feeling much less pissed.
Still concerned about relaunch - as Ive heard its not very good, in 5 line mode, but ive not had the chance to try.

im also an idiot for taking so long to try the 5 line mode, but I am not confident with setting up bridals, and thought that slingshot would get this fix out in a couple of weeks....thats my only excuse.

if anyone out there is having similar problems - then I recommed putting on the new bridal, its not as hard as it looks ( remember to label the bits you take off) and ensure you do the mods issued by slingshot.
see their website for details.

personally the 07 fuels have nearly twice as much depower as the 06 fuels and nearly as much as any bow. plus the added bonus of the steering of a "c" kite. they run on the same bar as the link and the active stopper ball is insane. definately have a fly of one before you buy any kite , you'll be impressed.
