I previously asked if u can kite a SE in Perth (particularly Brighton) and was told not to bother. Fair enough, good advice.
Seein as Im still new and yet to experience anything but the stock standard summer S/SW seabreeze I was wondering what the kitings like in a W NW like its going to be on Wed.
I'm assuming this is still ok to ride in as its not offshore, but how is it? Gusty? Gutless?
Gettin a bit excited at the prospect of doin a downwinder on my natural forehand for a change. (Assuming things work in reverse when its NW.)
Any comments before Wed from those in the know would be great.
Cheers.

Hi Pharro,

NW works OK, but you'll find it a bit onshorish, will still be doable though. It gets better if it is NNW, a bit more sideshore.

Mmmmmmm Yummy Right Handers! Better beaches are South Cott, Trigg and North Mullas.

Good winds,

NW is my fav wind
However it is rare that you get days where you have a steady nw wind and good waves.
NW tends to be the front coming or arrived so it is generally gusty hectic and full on
Though sometimes it can be good and when it is good drop everything and go to the beach cause its all time

My best ever most memorable kites have all been in winter on a NW.

Pharro - Just to give you a dose of realism - the Northerlys in WA are no where near as reliable as the classice summer sea breeze.

I have been watching them for quite a while now and estimate that at least 50% off forecast Northerlies in winter do not eventuate.

The classic is they will forecast a NW winds 15/20 knots, for the afternoon and they will come in around the 10 knot mark.

A good sign is a larger well rounded fronts and not just chopped up lows. - this will give the better chance of the forecasted breezes.

The unrealiability could be a good thing to consider before you take to many days off.
