What a shame sci post got derailed, as happens so often. Anyway I'm actually in the backgorund in some of those photo's sitting in my loader cabin at the wharf where that ship is alongside. I could see about 4 or 5 kites from my nice warm view point 50m in the sky.
phrase said...As far as I`m concerned the rest are just like the tourists that turn up in summer. And they want to have a say about what`s going on in their pond??? They want to complain about the Euros in the summer taking up all the space? I decare all the above mentioned the only true locals at "The Pond"

and all the rest put in the same catagory as "EUROS".

. Do you blame me?

Phrase, you best be keeping your opinions to your self. For one, I've never met you, I've been using safety bay to windsurf and kite since 1987 and before that fishing and diving outta my dinghy.
To be honest I don't think any of your list would ever of seen or remember it before turning into the crappy pond. The likes of the eldest rawson boys and Jason Lewis plus a few others have been kiting it for 10 years or more, they would remember the good old days before the island attached itself to the mainland. When the yatch club was actually a good social plus to setup, instead now there's an over kill of banners and pimping just encouraging teuro's and beginners to setup then walk over the nature reserve.
I also find it offence that you catorgorize me and my friends that didn't make your exclusive list same as these teuro's. They are free loaders, they come in their wicked campers and camp out in the yatch club carpark. They show no respect for anyone else on the water, I've actually seen a guy jump a girl windsurfer who was taking a break in knee deep water. They think it's ok to walk their kites at lunch through a nature reserve to land on grass in front of the carpark.....shall I go on.
That Phrase is why you probably don't see us around whilst your there, because we either go early or very late to avoid the circus. As far as winter goes why on earth would you go to safety bay unless there's no swell.
Noones hard core just because they go out in winter, I was out the other day on a 6m, gusts to 35-40knots kite unable to fly so I sat 200m out to sea for 5 mins and had a rest. I think it was WOK who kept riding and yahooing with his 4m in the horizontal squall. But that's OK because he dominates, you should see that man ride.
Come and say hi next time, I should be flying Eclipse kites by then if that helps.
