Does anyone have an opnion on these type of kites ....I am struggling to see the down side as seem very easy to fly and control . I guess I am fed up with my kite bladder breaking / leaking! I'd like to hear from anyone with some experience of them.

I've flown the Venom a couple of times and loved it.

I don`t fly a foil on water, YET, from what I read and the little expirence I`ve had flying foils, it is all about personal preference.

Have a look at "www.foilzone.com", they seem to love the new flysurfer speed above all else but I think the Venom may run a very close second.

The best thing you could do though is hook a with your local dealer and try out the different styles of kites for yourself, other peoples opinons are just other peoples opinions.

Fly the kite that feels best to you not what others say is the best kite!

Where are you if you are on the East Coast I can probably hook you up with a Demo?
There is not really any downside, especially with Venoms now.

Contact Neil @ Hold The Line Kites, he is the Peter Lynn man in WA, super nice guy and i'm pretty sure he has demo's of the Venom.

I've got the V13 & having lots of fun.Has the bottom end of my 15m lei but turns heaps faster,have'nt fully sussed the top end yet(website reckons about 28kts),I only had it at 23kts but that was'nt fully depowered.Quick & easy to set up & pack up.I'm still mucking around trying different things with the flight adjuster,so lots of experimenting yet.Not for everyone I spose,but if you ask Neil he'll see you right with all the info or check out the website.

I tried emailing you through this site but it was bounced back. I have a Venom 13 and, before long, will have my V-19 back. You're welcome to drop in and borrow them some time.

At risk of sounding like a PL tragic (OK, so it's true!) I recently received this message from my regular 85kg, die-hard LEI-flying kitesurf instructor Rob Gannon who is having a break in Broome where it rarely exceeds 15knots:

"Hi Neil,

How's things, hope the cold and stormy weather isn't getting to you. I finally got to try out the 19 Venom yesterday, it was blowing 10-12Knts and I was using a 170cm TT with a fair amount of volume (my student board). Was powered up, staying up wind and could pull off small to average height jumps!!! All I kept thinking whilst I was out is "Peter Lynn is a f***ing genius !" For such a big kite it's turning and responsiveness is impressive, so stable and predictable, but the power I could get out of it once up and moving blew me away. I think it's going to be a big hit up here, Shayne was on the beach (I think he has a 19m LEI that he didn't bother getting out of the car) he is going to try it out next weekend and he sounds very interested in buying one. Very tempted to get one myself, I'm really impressed with it."

Sorry about the blatant promotion but unfortunately, over the years, many Aussie kitesurfers have been misled by commercial propaganda. For the record, the Venom has NO bridle lines, is self-inflating, 99% luff-proof, will "auto-zenith" (overhead) when the bar is let go, is easy to self-launch and land, suits beginner to advanced, has a 15+ knot wind range, turns and relaunches similarly to most LEI's, will match most LEI's for big air and upwind ability, flies smoothly on gusty days, doesn't flap to death when resting on the beach, uses any barset with 4 equal lines and is lighter than any equal size LEI (so far).
By the way, did I mention that Venoms almost NEVER break!
As you may know, I do a lot of repairs during Perth's excellent summer season and I don't want to put myself out of business!!!

If you've read this far you are obviously open-minded. There are trend setters and trend followers. Neither is right or wrong.

i learned on a guerilla 2 - it's a great kite - but the venom just does everything better! my v-19 gets me going in 10-12 kts (am 85kg, ride a liquid force wlf 140)

WARNING: when rigging the zero 4 bar, whatever you do, DO NOT PASS THE LEASH THROUGH THE "LEASH GUIDE RING"! (even though the instruction manual tells you to do this!) don't ask me how i found out...

Oh you guys are getting my juices going again.

I really want one of these kites also.......a Speed or a Venom, that is the question......next season, or once I get bored of my new rubber duck.

Venoms rock!

And I've also had much more success relaunching arcs than I had when I flew tubes.

I learnt on LEI's, then got an old ARC460 more as a fun kite, and that was pretty much the turning point for me, as i kite buggy as well as kitesurf (well i try to anyway), and the arcs can do both land and water equally good.

i am buying a V-16 in the next week or so, and cant wait to get that up, 10-24knot range, oh my!

I also have a Guerilla 10m (1st generation Guerilla's) and its my fave kite, awsome depower and super stable, i wont eva sell it (unless i get a V-10).

For anyone with an open mind, try a peter lynn and make your own mind up, as some ppl like them, and other's dont.

p.s. i am selling my F-arc 16m for $200 if anyone wants it, as i have no need for it after the V-16 arrives.

Thanks Neil all this info is getting me very excited..... am off shark bay with a borrowed guerilla 2 for a week so will give it a serious try out then would be keen to take you up on your offer to try the venom......which sounds great by all accounts and has simplicity which I long for!

Yikes !! please do not form an opinion of PLK with the Guerilla .its kind of like taking an 82 commodore for a test drive to see what the latest Holden is like.I would say you won't like it.
The Venom is quite a change in design and performance from the Guerilla which leaves it for dust.

Hi Everyone

I've been away in the UK for the last few weeks. Its the middle of summer here so I brought my G2 along to check out a few of the kiting spots on the Wales and English west coast.

Peter Lynn kites are top of the bill here. A couple of kite schools I came across in Wales rave about the venom and use them for teaching. More than half the kites flying at one location were Peter Lynn Venoms. Found another beach and again Peter Lynn Venoms everywhere being used for beach buggying and boarding as well as on the water. On a separate occasions I found myself yarning to a guy who turned out to be a kiter and told me he also flew PL Venomns. I was rolling my eyes at this point. He tried the 16m and was so impressed he bought a quiver of 5 kites although he said he's only ever needed to use two: 13m and 19m. He said the wind range was fantastic and he had held the 13m down it up to 45 knots. I thought he must be a maniac they're all a bit that way over here. I think its the conditions they have to endure. Anyway he seemed a genuine enough bloke.

So I've been quite amazed. It's certainly opened my eyes to see just how popular they are over here.
