Hi Guys,

This is a general call to all the Pinnaroo Point riders. Whilst down the beach today I noticed several unbelievably close crashes on the waters edge involving small children. One where the kite lines of a fully powered kite crashed either side of a kid of about 6 years old whilst the rider ended up about 3 metres from the sand.

This is holiday season and with hot sunny days, heaps of families bring their kids to play in the shallow waters just downwind of the beach access road. This is their right! There is no reason to pull off your biggest craziest moves within 30m of the beach and definately not within 50m of a swimmer or kiddie. The entire point, (South where no onlookers were) was empty of swimmers and families. Hmmm, a connection?

Please! Please! DO NOT PULL YOUR CRAZY SH1T within a LINE LENGTH OF THE BEACH! If you hurt a child, forget the lawsuit or beach bans, the father will beat you until you are a smudge on the beach, then once we lose access to the beach, we will all join in and beat whats left of the smudge into the sand

Just think before you commit, there's more at stake than your ego!

Good winds and thanks for your cooperation,

It's a fair call guys.

One day I may want to move back to Perth and if I'm not allowed to kite there I will be very upset.

If that’s the spot where the bay turns in off the point north side of launch area and in the wind shadow I think its prudent to the newbie’s (and blow ins like myself on occasions) as well to stay clear of it, seen guys crash because of the wind shadow there into groups of families and trying to relaunch their kite - that’s in the water and the dudes on the beach...with children right next to him, not least to say the windsurfers don’t seem that friendly if you crash next to their kids. pack up and walk back to the launch zone its safer than trying to launch in wind shadows where the kite has a tendencies to fall out of the sky then potential to power back up.

The point it self is also quite hazardous, usually a fleet of fishermen cast off exactly where the kiters launch. I know they’ve been there longer than we have and they’ve every right to use that part of the beach but I think it’s a time bomb.

This thread was not directed at one individual, there were many close calls on the day in question by a variety of different riders.

We all need to remember to be careful when there are families in the shallows. kids can be underwater as you approach at speed and then suddenly "pop up" out of the water directly in front of you. At speed you could kill or at least seriously injure someone, young or old.

All I'm saying is if it's possible to throw the tricks in slightly deeper water to allow for a failed trick and a kite crashing towards the beach, that it isn't going to hit some unsuspecting punter taking time out with his or her family. Kite hard, but responsibly!

Good winds,

Good call.

Showing off is fine by me, but when kids/families are put at risk that ain't cool.
