I'm new to this forum and to kite-surfing, I was hoping to find a location to getaway to over xmas or a summer holiday vacation where I could learn everything over a week's holiday.
My aim is to escape Sydney, and indeed if I can, go abroad. But can you fellas and lasses give me some good head's up on sunny, reliable safe locations to learn about the sport with good instruction. Either closer to home in NSW (not botany bay or sydney), or great places to go away to for a week or so and come back 'a pro', and by that I mean have the confidence to just be able to get out there most places and get back.
really appreciate any advice.

I highly recommend the camps referred to in the post above. I went on one last month and it did my kiting the world of good.

I spent a week earlier this year on Koh Samui in Thailand. It's a nice place for a holiday, the beaches looked great to learn on, & the Aussie dollar goes a long way.
There is a school on Samui, but I was there out of season & it was closed so I didn't get to try them out. Take a look at their website: www.kiteboardingasia.com

Why go abroad when we have the best here???
Try Zephyr wind sports in beautiful downtown Inverloch in Victoria or come to Caloundra and kite in boardies all day. Kitethrills will have you kiting in no time.
How's that for a plug!!!!

if you try for a week you should be able to get up by the end no worries, try www.xshore.com.au , they have quite a few camps coming up but also do instruction up in the forster / lake wallis area of NSW and have some excellent flat water spots to learn in.

These replies all sound good. I also checked out a website on Boracay Island (spelling?) and that sounds good too. I'll check out all the ideas but keep them coming if anybody out there thinks of something worthy.
