Am heading up there mid August with the wife and of course kiting gear. I just did a random search on Port Douglas Accomodation. Plenty to chose from with locations plotted on a local area map. Accomodation I have booked is self contained and under $200 a night. I reckon best option is to just check out what's available that's going to suit your needs. Might see you on the water.
i stayed at Club tropical resort with the mrs and kite last august and will be doing the same this august. its right at the end of the main street across the road from the park where the weekend markets are. nice enough and close to everything. the kite beach is a few minutes drive away. might see you there!?
hey call bretto at windswell port douglas, he cant get cheap accom. if you want to do more kiting look for acc in four mile beach as thats were we kite. you can do down winders to main beach but the life savers arnt to happy about it. cheers ill prob see you on the beach there.
Last time I was up in PD (2004 I think) I rented a Wicked camper and stayed in the caravan park - great to have wheels to lug around the kiting kit & options to go exploring if the wind was off.
This time will be staying in more comfortable surrounds - booked the Hibiscus yesterday - not bad 8 nights/9 days, airfares and transfers for 2 for $2,600 ex-Melbourne.
Probably could have got it cheaper, but its done now & I thought we would have to spend that much on accomm alone.
Will catchup with Bretto again & try to organise a kite trip out to the cays - or a run out to Low Isles at least.
