A bit of a different post this one, but first some background.
I came over to the darkside (kiting) only recently after being a surfer/windsurfer for many years. As a surfer/windsurfer my perception of kiters were that they were all reckless cashed up bogans who put theirs and others lives at risk show-ponying for their girlfriends teabagging near the edge of the water and narrowly avoiding being sucked into carparks.
That perception came from many hours on these forums seeing all the red thumbs and reading the flamings that people get for posting comments (like these).
So, after the past 2 dismal summers in Perth and being frustrated by watching kiters out at my local every day when the wind was too marginal to windsurf, I bit the bullet, got the trainer kite, the progression DVD and went off to do my lessons (thanks the the awesome crew at AKS).
Fast forward about 4 weeks now and I have got to say that my perception on kiters was totally wrong. As the new guy at Pinaroo, I have discovered that the community of kiters there are an amazing bunch of people, friendly, supportive and always on the lookout for one another.
A great bunch of people welcoming and forgiving of the many newbies such as myself that proliferate the place and this post is a big props to all the great guys and girls that I have met there...
