Hey BigDasa and Iti ... what's the deal with this pulley fix for the X-bow 3 ... could you explain it a little ...

Will be getting a X-Bow3 soon, but I'm in Koh Samui (Thailand) so I can't get to see Reg at Kite-Addiciton Perth (windsurfing Perth) ...

many thanks in advance,
Buzz

Hi Buzz

There is no issue with the pulleys on the production CB3 kites.
There were a few CB3 early production kites delivered in Australia, to Reg and all Oz Cab dealers that had a tiny loop of line missing from the pulley attachment loop, which allowed the pulley to rotate and align itself with the bridle better. The effect of that pulley alignment, is that the bridle hardly wears and the kite feels lighter and smoother.

Anyway, all dealers were told about the issue ages ago and now ee have all received the small loops from NP, so its all fixed and looking 100% originla on our kites now.

You can pick up a production CB3 within a couple of weeks, from any Australian Cabrinha dealer, with absolute confidence the bridles are correct.

I have now used our production SB3's and they are awesome, the 12M now tirns and feels like last years 10M and the 14M turns and feels like a 12M!! Its easy to do big floaty jumps with the 14M. The 12M is really grunty, and both the 12M and the 14M turn tighter and quicker than the 12M Naish Helix (on 24M lines), as I tried all 3 kites on the same day this week.

I'm amazed that no company has tried a milled Aluminum fitting to replace pullies. For the load that those pullies see I'm sure that you could do a milled alluminum fitting for the same weight and less cost, and with the right line the wear would be minimal.

Cheers

Russell whats with all the aggro?

There is NO issue with the Cab production kites bridles - Fact!

There was an issue with the ability of the pulley to correctly align itself to the bridle, on a small numner of early production kites sent to Cabrinha dealers as samples and for team riders.
Seems like Reg sold a couple, and then made a mod he read about on NP forum, which did not work. Cabrinha have since released a mod and sent parts to all dealers.
I suggest you and anyone else who has purchased an early production CB3 or Contra to return it to your dealer to have the official Cab small black link added.
The mod you are talking about does not exist or does not work, just take your own advice and read this thread
neilprydemaui.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2127&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

What is described in that thread is exactly what I am describing here.
All production kites leaving the factory now have this missing piece.

PS I'll post a pic of the modded CB3 12M I have soon.

Ok Russell, if Reg's mod works then it is effectively the same as the Cab piece, we got during the week.
The downside of all the mods is that they can be too long and this creates other issues, like no bottom end.
I modded all my own kites too, with loops of line, but now I have replaced all of them with the Cab pieces, which look better and are shorter.
The black Cab factory bridle pieces are free and easy to fit.
