Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get my pump working swisho again.

Up untill know ive always used kmart pumps with plastic shafts (that break all the time), anyway, just got a North pump (second hand - with an aluminium shaft) that seems to have quite a lot of resistance where the shaft slides through the lid. Also the seal (in the lid) seems to coat the aluminium in some kind of carbon. Is this normal (like a lubricant or something - or is the seal buggared?)

Secondly, the valves seem to be a bit sticky. Takes about 10cm of movement before air comes out?

So yeah, should i just try give it a really good clean, or lube it up with something?

RP7 on the shaft and on the inner tube, works a treat, worth doing every 10 or so kites, especially helpful when pumping up the big kites!!

hey while we are on maintenance, what do you guys use to re-grip the bar if some of it is wearing?

Can anyone give details of the method of unscrewing the top off the pump that came with my crossbow? I know it is meant to screw off for maintenance but its on there pretty darn tight!

...and if that fails to break the pump try Vaseline - or crisco

One more question - any idea how i can calibrate the pressure gauge on the pump? I don't think its reading the pressure right.
