G'day guys, Im wondering if my kiteboard is too small to run boots on?. Obviously i can put boots on the board, but im more concerned on the board being a bit too short to run boots leading to alot of nose dives and bogging when loading. Any experiences using boards around this size would be great, also worth mentioning for those unfamiliar with the Jaime. It is a fairly flat board compared to Customs, Dark sides and momentum.

My board is a 2010 Jamie Pro 132? Currently running a 137 for wakeboarding but its pretty ** to kite with.

Me:
5'6" 70kg

Cheers

In short, yes. Rocker is also too flat.

135+, probably 137 would be ideal for your 70kg's.

just ride that for now while you sort out another board to use and to see if bindings r ya thing

Iam pretty much same specs as you. I have no worries riding my 130 Sling Shot SX booted or binded.

I have run boots on as small as 134(im 90kgs) and it has worked ok but you need to be on the ball the whole time hoping waves etc, if you go bigger it will be a lot better. When you get a chance try a board around 138minimum. There is a lot of diferance. I have seen some people riding 132 lunacys with boots and they make it work for them. Just give it a go if you have the boots lying around you dont have to much to lose.

Getting a bigger board is going to be better for you, but as Charl has already said you can make a small board work. I've probably riden more different boards with bindings than nearly anyone out there and I know that 140 - 142 is best for me, but I have also riden smaller boards that I really enjoyed. I rode the old 135 LF concept and thought it was one of the nicest boards I've riden for windy WA weather, until it snapped in half. I have also riden a 118cm board with boots a few years ago now for a few months when I had broken everything else, obviously not the best to ride but a solution to my problem.
In short you should at least be riding something in the 130+ range and hopefully with a bit of rocker unless you are tiny. You can get the perfect board later on when you work out what is best for you.

I used to ride a 130 carbon pickle fork by delta designs I think it was about 28cm wide so the heel and toe both stuck over the edge creating a heap of spray but it seamed great at the time (better than my 7'2'' with extra fins and sharpened rails) Fastest board I ever had and held sooo much power. Actually I think I saw Dan Anderson riding it in an old vid shot at woodmans. Doesn't matter what people say is right you can have fun on anything, just look at the stubie boards from years ago they were crap but still good fun.

thanx for the advice guys. The reason im switching is because im off to Hatteras soon so i thought id give boots a go in the smooth water of the outer banks... bit more enjoyable than boots in the shore break of Narrabeen. Ill try give it a go next time im out botany way, otherwise ill take a gamble.

Cheers
