All beaches still closed/dangerous conditions heavy cyclonic swell. Tidal surges on the incoming tide towards evening. Lifeguards called to rescue a kite surfer out the back North of Currumbin Alley/treacherous conditions. Kite surfer rescued by Lifeguard on Jet Ski. app 4.15pm. Mate ventured out 20 minutes later to retrieve kite towards night fall also rescued by Lifeguard. Absolutely crazy and very fortunate. Enjoy your day.

yep stuffing up is easy no matter how good you are, but going out to get a kite in those conditions is completely insane! It's only a kite, Fark me.

I think it was Sanz with his 2m trainer and skimboard trying to get a couple big ones at the alley

spoke to the guy who went out for the rescue wasn't that stoked on the guy needing rescuing especially when he had to go and save his mate as well. if you are going to kite these waves make sure its on a surfie so at least you can paddle it when you stuff up.

The first bloke swam in without kite. Not a local kiter. Didnt quite get a chance to tell him about the dead zone. The 2nd bloke a fit young local lad, sorta knowing what he was doing tried to bring the kite in. 45min doing so. Clubbies went out to help but he was fine. I was there the whole time for all its glory and excitment.

I really don't find that funny at all! As i am good mates with the lifeguard that had to go out and save the guy and i can tell you he wasn't Laughing at the fact he had to go out and rescue the guys KITE!
Once again a small few giving us a bad name with the lifeguards and funny how it always seems to be the crew from the alley!
Just let the frekin thing go, why put other peoples life at risk over a kite.

Once again if you can't handle the conditions or think you can't swim in that sort of swell, then you shouldn't be out there.

I don't know who the guy was and neither did the lifeguard but look after your local spot. If he was new to the area then maybe a nice local should've warned him about how fast currumbin can switch off late in the arvo in squally SE winds.

No respect! Sort of knowing what you are doing just isn't good enough.
