Just read this.....

"THE Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. "

RIP Steve - you are a legend.

Considering how much money and attention Steve pulled for the environment, it is a sad day for this planet.

RIP Steve

Few people have died in more manly circumstances!

So sad for his family and friends . Although he was a loud and quirky figure he was passionate about his work and you could tell he was a really nice guy who loved animals. R.I.P Steve...

Counldn't agree more. Nothing says hardcore like a stingray to the heart. It pisses me off though that news of his death was released to the media before his wife even knew. It is very seldom I found myself saying that something is done better in New Zealand, but over there you cannot release the name of the deseased until their next of kin has been informed. Also, in a country like NZ, being on the top of a mountain is no excuse for not telling them first.

This is horrible news!

The guy was a legend in the UK and gave us Poms many an hour of fun as well as being a champion of wildlife and the environment.

Gutted.
