hey Jeff and Bondo,
I sell the RRDs at SOS in WA, and fly them myself. The Wave Type2s are the fastest turning kites ever. The 15 is fast for a 15, but as you go down the sizes you find they're more fun down to the 8 which is amazing. Honestly the fastest kites I've flown.
The depower bar is unreal. You can get it standard on the type 7 or the type wave. It takes away your ability to to have a standard, spinning 5th line leash, but it gives you total depower, without taking your hand off the bar. A bow kite has similar depower, but it takes a longer length of chicken loop to be able to completely kill the kite (3 or 4 metres). No one can reach that far to be able to totally depower while hanging onto the bar. Also the wave kites are able to be turned (or looped) while depowered.
I've also tried to put the total depower bar on other non RRD kites. It worked okay with a Airush Pilot 6m, but not a Gaastra Vision 6m. My theory: the vision has a really deep foil shape, and it was hard to push the bar away to get it to tip forward. Also neither kite would retain its power and flow through vicious turns as well as the type wave or type7 (I'ved used it with a 5m and 7m Type7s). You know when you crank a kite around and a bad kite deforms, stalls, then jerks off again.
