Just had a meeting with Best Kiteboarding, Balance Kiteboards KSA Designs and Gale Force Kites, all of which are super keen to build some rails/kickers and support an event where the first day is a clinic format with Pro riders giving intensive tuition for everyone, then follow this with two days of a ProAm style comp.....
How many riders would be interested in this style of event?
Be good to get an early show of hands so we can start the build. It will not matter one bit if you have never riden Park before, we will have the countries very best park riders giving you lessons!
More info will come once we get a feel for the numbers, we can sort out some cheap accommodation along with some billeting style with local riders.
We have professional photograhpers on hand for TEAM/Brand shoots and KBM onboard to show case the event.
The dates are 1st. 2nd. 3rd of May, loaction: Town Beach. Rails: flat bar, step up, roof top, wall and kickers?
Want more info PM me...
Cheers Chris Wardell

Yeah any wind that time of year...?
What's the best way to get there? Flying from Syd to Mackay is $400+ return. What's the nearest big airport?

As you all probably know, I have not been up here that long, but I can say is all the local crew are backing wind, for it is the season up here for southerlies until June!
Those who have made the journey in previous years for the ARSA events in June, have been unlucky with wind. We can only plan around the season and hope for the best. In lieu of no wind we will still hit rails all day long as we will have two winches and jetskis doing tow in etc.
The principles of rail riding will be the same we just won't have the kite component, but saying that if there is wind it should be all time.
I will be looking into some cheap accomm early next week along with getting the ball rolling with Council approvals etc. We have some great industry support for this type of event; Adrenalin Rush Sports Australia (ARSA), the local shop here is fully behind it along with big hitters BEST Kiteboarding, Balance Kiteboards, KSA Designs, Underwave Harnesses and Hardware, Gale Force kites, SOLRX (extreme sunscreen) and we are talking with some local companies that are keen to throw their support behind as well.
We are looking to build as many rails as possible, obviously this is the expensive part of an event like this, so if anyone knows of people who can help with materials such as wood, box steel, aluminum, and plastic for slide surfaces..please PM me as all the support and assistance is greatly appreciated. As it stands the Kiteboarding Industry sponsors and my own personal sponsors have kicked in a **** load which is awesome and I hope through some sick photo's and good participant numbers we can endeavor to give these guys/brands some real bang for their buck!
Hot off his awesome riding in the Core Rail Jam, coming second to no other but Dre, Cam Prest will headline our coaching panel, along with rail and wakestyle superstar Alex Hughes ensures the level of coaching will be through the roof. This makes this alone a fantastic opportunity for riders to gain access to this level of coaching and who knows if the wind is solid and we have good numbers we may extend the format to include a wakestyle coaching session as well?
This event will be a feedback driven process, so I am looking for input from you guys as to where you can see this heading and how you would like it done! Rail events are so few are far between, I would love to see us get this off the ground and make a solid East Coast event off the back of the Core Online Jam in WA, that way we can see riders hitting both events in years to come with maybe a few more locations stepping up?
Anyway enough rabble....stay tuned and slam this post with your input, feedback, ideas, etc etc... and lets make this snizz happen for true!

Now we are talking, lets smash the bag out of this one!
With DJ Marv and his boys rocking the turntables and with the huge support we are generating, this is gonna be all time!
Well we might even throw the lights on and ride under flash and splash!
ARSA rocks.....

Cam, at this stage I am planning to build a super wide and easy flat bar, so everyone can hit it and style it. We will have the Gale Force Rail which was at the Nationals last year, which can be any thing from a flat bar, A-Frame, up flat - down flat etc...
I am thinking of a roof top and wall ride combo plus a couple of booters!
Any thoughts...

Sounds sick Chris, I'm sure there will be a few people keen from down this way.
You should make a bank flat bank rail. A few people know how well that worked
Just a question, how are you going to make everything work with the tides. There pretty massive up that way

Keahi, good question re Tides....
The tides for this weekend are high around 1 -2pm, they are relatively small highs meaning we can have the rails in the water early, ride with winch/ski etc or kite if the winds in then as the tide fills we eat/drink and play else where. Then as the tide turns we will have a sick arvo session going into some great lighting for photo's etc.
The location has several pools that fill up on a high to about chest deep and mid tide has them butter smooth and waste deep dropping down to knee deep for the most part.
Our initial plan was to have them all floating and run it in the river, but its way harder than having rails on the bottom. Hopefully, we can build stuff that is easily moved if needed and can be anchored down.

Yeah bank flat bank is definitely the go, I heard Big AL and Cam the crusher made a sick one in WA, I heard that it was the rail of the event... practically brought the punters in.
