Has anyone been to Rarotonga for a kitesurfing holiday? I am thinking about heading there this winter for a couple of weeks... (unless someone can convince me of a better mid Aussie winter destination).
Thanks in advance for any tips.

Nope - but in the Metropolis DVD, the Cabrinha crew did.
Its a longish flight via Auckland I believe.

We went there in june about 2 years ago for 7 days. Had 20knts plus everyday. Base yourself close to muri lagoon, it's waist deep for about 1 km out. Mostly sandy bottom but there is some reef.
You will need someone to help you launch and land as there are heaps of palm trees hanging over the beach.
Have fun, the water is unreal and so clear.

I reakon its a better spot, I also think this is where the cab guys did their filming, just a hunch though, I think i read it somewhere..
My mate is from there and visits a lot, he has seen kiters there, take a 6 - 8 m along with bigger kites, it gets freaking windy on the trade winds side of the island.
