Kiteboarders recently broke the world record passing the 50 knot barrier (50.57 knots!!!). Shortly afterwards this new record was disallowed by the ISAF (sailing's international governing body). The ISAF had recognized a kite-driven catamaran back in the 80's, so why change now?. The ISAF has given no justification for it's action.

Fellow Sailors, Windsurfers and Kiters, please consider signing this petition to implore the ISAF reverse it's decision! There are close to 1000 signatures. Please add yours!

Thanks,
Guy Le Roux

I've been thinking and I think they should disallow the world speed record set by kiteboards in Namibia, and while they're at it disallow all world records set by specialist craft on specialist speed courses. It's just a race of technology and money to build all this stuff.

The world speed record should be set out in open blue water with all the waves and chop and stuff. If you're going to do it on a specialist speed course then you might as well get really special and freeze it and do it on ice, then you'd go really ****en fast.
