Hi all,
I have a clean tear in my leading edge bladder about 7cm long and dead straight. I was wondering if anyone had managed to repair such a big tear.

It is right in the middle of the bladder so I thought it may be possible to put a really big patch on it. Was thinking maybe a waterbed repair patch or some kind of big puncture repair kit if such a thing even exists.

Has anyone had any luck repairing such a big tear, or should I just sacrifice the kite to the wind gods?

Holes this big can be repaired. You need an old dead bladder to make a patch, then some contact glue.

It's not easy, but it is better than buying a whole new bladder.

No problem Smasher we do them all the time with a plastic bar welder/sealer, SOS have one, it is easy to do and fast. The repaired bladder will be as good as new
I have done holes as big as 30-40cm long. Glue would be a last resort, it can turn into a nightmare and ruin the bladder completely if you don't get it right, and it is very easy to not get it right when it come to the glue methods.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll take it into Steve next weekend rather then risk messing up the bladder competely. Cheers
