Just shredded my brand new 9m Rev2. Tree ate it. Three major leading edge to rear edge rips plus a few minor tears for variety. before all that i managed to step on a stingray or somethign in Pittwater that is now giving me serious grief.

Anyway... i need a good repair job. Not overly fussed about look, just want it seriously air worthy. Anyone on Northern beaches area you'd recommend??

As a beginner, i was enjoying those serious gusts, just a bit too slow with the emergnecy release reflex.

Not sure about on the northern beaches, you could ask at windsurf 'n' snow or balmoral boards narrabeen. Also Kitepower will be able to help, but their on the southside.

Just out of curiosity, where abouts on the pittwater were you kiting? was it the west side of Palm beach?

Yep. Right off the golf course, not much leeway with those trees on the shoreline in an onshore wind. Only me and a Norwegian out. He was getting some awesome jumps, has done a lot of snow kiting back in Norway

G'day mate, Just take it into windSurf n'snow in collaroy and they will get your kite repaird. They have two professional sail repairers who they send off to. Depending on where the rips are and since you don't care about looks they also stock kitefix to do it yourself.

BTW I work for them, if you come in on monday ill personally help you out mate.

Call Glen Salmon-lives in Avalon-a very good kiter and a professional sail maker by trade-VERY VERY good at what he does-very reasonable and a great guy (one of my best mates-so biased)-0403 913 688.

Tell him Matt sent you.

As an aside-if you were a beginner, on a 9M out at Pittwater side of Palmy, I'm not surprised you trashed your kite. Way too sketchy there for a beginner with a 9M on a day like this.

Thanks Matt. Will give him a call. Was pretty sketchy, but too good an opportunity it miss. Woulda been ok if i'd had my emergency release reflex tuned- miss grabbed when it got critical. I'll stitch this one up and get back back into it

To follow up, as Glen's self appointed salesman-he also does very good board repairs-can do surfboards, kiteboards, windsurfers and SUPs-think he prefers kites and windsurfer/boat sails-but he can do pretty much anything (repairing a Naish SUP with cracked deck for me now).

I need some kickbacks.......

Here's the pics. 1 and 1/2 front to tail tears on the side green panel, and 1 front to tail on the grey panel- the black strips. Then various tears and holes patched- mainly on the grey panel. I told him not to worry about colour match i just wanted it airtight, i'd paint it later. I've had it out in decent winds a couple of times since and it flies fine

But when I look at the repair...^^
It seems to blend in nicely with the existing graphics, or even add to them.
To me, that's creative repairmanship.

Why do folks get so hung-up on colour-matching re repairs ?
Whether it's a grey patch on a grey panel,
or a black patch on a grey panel....
It's still a patch.
You can't hide patches.
Lipstick on a pig; it's still a pig.
And don't bother debating me about resale value...
Repaired kites don't have any resale value.

im not getting hung up on colour matching, or do i doubt that patches lower resale value. i was only objecting to your comment regarding they "blend in". not exactly waveslayer.

better luck next time.

I think it needs to be stated that Glen (the repairer) offered to colour match, however Gordknot (the kite owner) didn't want to wait for Glen to obtain the materials to colour match and was happy to have black material used-Gordknot resolved the colour match by doing his own custom graphic.

Regardless colour is MUCH less significant than a great quality repair both as far as the quality of the finish and workmanship as well as understanding sail cloth etc. Glen is top notch on all these fronts-he's also VERY reasonable priced with quick turnaround-he's a very good kiter (and hanglider-was in the Aussie team) so sympathetic to getting you back on the water as quickly as possible.

He also does very good board/sail repairs-also does shade sails, boat canopies etc. etc.

loco's right. I wanted and got a solid repair job done quickly and more than reasonably priced. I wasn't fussed about colour matching as it gave me an excuse to play around with a spray job which i'd wanted to do anyway... still think the spray job needs work
