Can anyone tell me what resin type and glass to use to repair a North Nugget?

Got some delamination happening on on my 2012 under the heels and its allowing water in now . So needs a fix and re-enforcement .

I gather that you need to use the right one otherwise the foam doesn't react that well

Any other helpful hints are welcome

Its Epoxy.

But Eddie your problem now is the water intake. The EPS foam core of these boards soaks up water like a sponge, literally! If severe, the usual scenario is a full:

- Drill
- Drain
- Vacuum
- Reseal

Not sure how big the hole or how much water has gone in, but it may be worth visiting a professional for some advice.

Bene; I have cut out the section - probably about 200 x 70 - and allowing it to dry - actually its not too bad but made to look worse by the colour of the bamboo - so thinking there is not too much water incursion - more like a very slow leak probably only when under stress from the heel and slowed down by being under the padding .

There is some delamination around the margins of what has been cut out - would I stick it down with the resin first ?

As the big fella said, be wary of the hardener. I burnt a hole straight through a surfboard once.

... red thumb, oh dear,,,,what was wrong with my advise,,, is West System no good???? I've used this stuff before and was advised by a boat builder this was the stuff to use,,,, and worked so can the red thumber let me know why its no good so I don't make the same mistake again?????

Oh well fixed with some greenies. Sometimes social media aint very social. Red thumbing for asked for advice, not cool

Poly/PU repairs I would always cut any delam glass away. Cut right back until the glass is solid/fixed to the core. Then fill, sand, re-glass, sand, gloss, sand to wet/dry.

Not sure if epoxy is different. All I know is it's harder to sand than poly!

Come to have closer look - quite a bit of water when you press it - will have to leave in the sun for a few days. Won't dry out properly don't reckon but will finish the repair and get some more time out of my beloved nugget.

Will start to see what the replacement might be for our skinny wind.

The newer ones seem to be better built and are not showing the same problem but need to hear how the new version stacks up with this classic.

Ummmm... Maybe give that dude in bishop st with the boatshed a call..... Think u have his number...
